Used fake TFL discount card

Good morning,

 

Lets I will explain situation.

 

My girlfriend bought 1 month ago at work 50% discount card from colleague.

The card was sold with oyster and 50% Jobcentre discount card.

The person put her photo inside the job centre card and signed for it.

She was told that it is legal card and he is working in Job Centre.

 

Yesterday inspector stopped her on the bus and she told that the card is fake one and she can not use it.

She paid for this card 80 pounds to this guy.

They confiscated it and gave her two tickets:

one for counterfeit ticket and other for reference.

They told that the letter will come in next 10 days.

 

I have several questions:

 

1.) What happened next

2.) What you suggest me to do?

3.) Any recommendation?

I will gather that ofcourse the jobcentre know nothing about it and aren't aware one of their employees are operating this sc@m.??

 

the issue here is that if you read the card carefully..it states certain criteria of use:

 

go read this and comeback if she meets any of the criteria

She has this person on facebook. Will it helps?

 

She doesnt comply with any of statement because she is working.

 

What the worst case scenario can happen?

this could get ugly.

to me its obvious its a discount card for people seeking or newly employed in work.

cant see how she has not spotted this..

even more so if it is a fake card and just not a real one she should not be using nor entitled to use

 

if this has been a month her 50% discount will mount up on a twice daily use basis.

it will cost her that's for sure

if there is no court taken place and we even do not know what will be decision of TFL,

does it mean that she doesnt have a criminal record?

 

We are looking for new flat and they will do criminality and reference checks.

Hi.

 

 

Your GF needs to wait for TfL's letter to arrive. It will normally ask for her version of events which she should answer truthfully.

 

 

 

If there has been no court case [and there may not be one], she doesn't have a criminal record.

you will be looking at an out of court settlement else she will get a criminal record regardless

 

you and only you know if she knew this was fake/illegal to do,

 

that's not the point at question here

BUT

do not be tempted and panic and start contacting TFL or anyone yet..you MUST await the letter.

 

then you will KNOW exactly what they are suspecting her of doing.

the wording will be critical.

 

you indicate the inspector said the card was FAKE.

is this REALLY what they said?

or was it not entitled to use it? and the card was OK?

Hello!

The inspectors were looking at the card very carefully then asked if I have an ID and then asked for a bank card and afterwards concluded that my job centre card is fake.

 

Maybe it is different to the ones that they give at the job centre, I don't know.

The person who sold me this card works in a bus company Abellio.

As you know the person who's selling these cards I would report it to tfl.

Not abellio because they have nothing to do with these issues, but tfl head office.

This guy is ruining people's life and must be stopped.

Exposing this guy and the possible prosecution for using a fake photocard are 2 different matters.

Also, if tfl caught the seller, they might be a bit lenient with the op.

Anyhow, as the seller is committing a criminal offence, shouldn't be the op's duty to report it at least to tfl if not the police?

Expect a prosecution. If the card was bought from someone who works for a bus company, it would be obvious to a reasonable person this wasn’t issued by the Job Centre, and is intended to defraud TfL.

 

Reply honestly to TfL. Offer to assist them as far as you can in identifying the person providing the fake cards.

 

I also note that initially you said it was your wife using the card, now it is “my Card” and “sold me”. You need to be honest and precise.

If you aren’t, TfL may well decide you aren’t being honest with them, and are more likely to prosecute.

She got a letter today. It shows that she need to tell what she thinks about the incident.

 

Actually I am her husband and letter was sent to her.

 

She bought it from work from colleague.

Colleague was bought from a guy (her friend from Facebook).

 

She knows one person from work and other person from Facebook.

 

Also two persons mentioned that it is legal and nothing happened.

 

Please advice what to write to tfl…

Can she tell that she has all details for those persons and agree to support tfl to catch a bigger fish?

Please advice.

 

Also she doesn't know that the person who sold to her Jobcentre ticket actually working in bus company.

Maybe it's me but the letter looks fake as well. There is an error in the last line of the first paragraph "Transport of London"??

 

"Dear Madam", who uses this anymore, I would have thought certainly not the real TfL.

Or, if that really is the letter, it is appalling. Someone at TfL needs to go back, or maybe start, school.

 

Surely the letter would be personally addressed to the accused and properly formatted.

 

Especially from TfL.
