Is this a co-op or Smille account?, I paid no monthly fees on my co-op account but had one on Smile (it was a Smilemore account), this is a fee for the benefits on the account and so cannot be claimed back.

Paul, when were you charged these £8/10 fees. If you are talking a few years ago, the £10 you can claim for but not the £8. The £10 was for when you exceeded your authorised od but the £8 was for using and staying within your od

Hi,

These were around 2001/2002.

I am currently trawling through the statements but the Co Op certainly make life difficult for you!!

Am I correct in thinking I can claim back anything which is not a monthly fee for the running of the account?

Hi Paulman, the £8.00 might be your subscription fee, which gives you certain privileges such as free travel insurance. This all depends on what sort of account you have. If you have a 'privilege' or 'privilege premiere' a/c then it is almost certainly a subscription fee. not sure if this helps.

Cheers,

Currently I am a Previlege account customer for which I do pay a subs fee every month. Whilst working through my statements from 2001 I have discovered the following:

A monthly charge of £8 plus variable amounts of "debit interest".

If I had exceeded my O/D limit within the month this then increased the monthly charge to £10 and added "Daily Excess Charges" of £4.50 per day. These fees increased at various times throughout the period I am claiming back. There were also "Commission" charges debited on occasion.

I just need to know which of these I can claim back to ensure the bank does not stall in refunding what was illegally taken from my account.

I know if I spend a while going through the threads I will probably be able to discover this but this info will be useful for other newbies like myself if restated again.

Sorry Paulman,

I to am a newbie so can only offer limited help. From your last post it looks as if you are a stage ahead of me. Lets hope a more experienced forum user answers this as it's one of my questions. I am guessing, but surely everything bar the subscription fee and monthly interest should be included in your request for settlement.

Paul, you can claim all items listed as fees, commission, daily excess charge, and the £10 service charges. Ignore the £8 service charges for reasons stated before and if you want to get claim back an element of the debit interest you'll need to complete one of the spreadsheets from this site, check around for instructions. alot of people don't think its worth the hassle at this stage, that's your decision though. good luck

Nice one Gazzah cheers,

I'm going all the way, if a job's worth doing it's worth doing well. I almost want to go to court so I can deffinately claim back the interest.

Thanks again
