Two days ago I bought a freeview box from Littlewoods but after plugging it in and having a look, it is completely unsuitable, I can't even read the channels in the guide.

Can I return this and cancel the order please or will it be refused because I plugged it in ?

that is the idea of distance selling regs, it gives you a chance to "inspect the goods". If you went into a shop you would expect soemone to demonstrate the thing for you so you get the opportunity to try it out at home and if you dont like it return them without having to say why.

If you are then told that it has been used or you cant have refund because the packaging has been opened you can quote the law so find the relevant bit

I've posted it today but there is one thing that worries me, it says on the chit

"We will replace or refund most items provided they are returned to us within 28 days of receipt complete, unused, in their original packaging and with any security tags intact"

Is there some sort of exemption they will be able to claim to refuse a refund?

Thank you so much. I'm off to read the regulation now to try and understand it a bit more.

Either way, I will keep you updated.
