Hi. need advice please.

we received an email back on April 10th for a publication called the Data Protection Adviser(cannot find the email now).

went onto their website and the employee saw a 3-day trial which they clicked and filled in our email address and details.

They were under the impression that this was a 30-day trial without having to input credit card details and therefore if we wanted to continue with the publication we would then need to provide our payment details. we received 4 newsletters, the first In June, a second later in June, 1 in July and 1 in August.

We have now received an invoice for £84 for a 1 year subscription!

seems a bit of a [problem] that they can just send out an invoice without us specifically agreeing to any contract or providing payment.

what should we send them to dispute this charge or is it a proper contract?

Hello and welcome to CAG.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem, people should be along to advise later.

I did find another thread about Agora, are these the people? Sadly the person never came back to let us know what happened.

Best, HB

they rely on the fact that some minion agrees to something they havent read and then claim vicarious liability from the boss to make a dubious gain.

Agora have little to use to enforce, the older version was unsolicited phone calls and these were recorded and sometimes doctored to try and claim that the agreement was binding.

I would ignore them, bounce their emails and block their phone number if you have it.

let them waste their time chasing you for nothing rather than trying to resolve as you wont.
