Hi all.

Really appreciate an opinion on next step, if indeed I should even bother.

I had a debt with Black Horse which I disputed with them in 2008 approx.

I received many letters from various agencies over the next few years, Clarity, DLC, and Lucas, up until 2013. I didn't ring or write to them and certainly never gave them a penny.

This became Statute Barred in around 2014.

It hasn't been on my Credit Report since about 2014.

Out of the blue today I received a letter from Cabot saying they now have my account and list some methods of payment etc'!

Love to hear your thoughts.

Cheers,

Billy.

Have you moved since taking this out?

And did you inform the OC or the debt owners of the move?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

if everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's tomorrow

the biggest financial industry in the UK, DCA;s -  would collapse overnight.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs - that's why they will never tell you they are not bailiffs and have absolutely zero legal powers on any debt.

Thanks Andy. Wondered if it was worth just ignoring them.

No dx100uk I haven't moved. Been at this address 12 or so years and it's the address they were writing to me previously.

Also dx100uk I should point out I have financed another vehicle with Black Horse since then and have paid it off.

Cheers

Yes, see if theyr'e dumb enough to go for a claim.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thanks I will. I assume it's ok by email? Then I have a record of it being sent.

Appreciate your time.

Billy

Never EVER communicate anything via email, keep EVERYTHING in writing, and ALWAYS obtain 'proof of posting' (which is free at any PO counter) that is the ONLY way to prove it has been sent.

I will. Thanks so much for your help.

P.S Just noticed that on my letter with a Cabot letterhead the letter starts with "Welcome to Cabot" but goes on to say this " In order to continue providing you with the best possible service we have returned your account to Cabot to deal with you directly"!!!

That sounds an awful lot like one person working for Cabot and dlc and he forgot which company the letter was from midway through writing it.
