Protective Services Officer New Name For Mobile Patrol Officers

Something that has been bugging me for a while. I do not want to name this company but people who have been following my thread against a certain security provider. Will know who it is.

 

They have recently had a revamp ad have renamed their Mobile Patrol Officer position as

Protective Services Officer . However reading up on this it appears it is the same name that police use in Australia .

Is this legal as the name is misrepresenting the actual job the person or company is claiming to do . Which is nothing near what the police do.

Are they employing people in the UK or Australia?

 

If in the U.K. : what does it matter that the job title means something else in Oz? It isn’t an inappropriate description is it?

Do you think people will be mislead as to the role?

 

You might as well argue that the US Govt. is misleading people by using that job title and not putting the staff on trains like in Victoria, Australia......

 

It is clear you can’t get past your grudge against your previous employer. However, you’d do better looking at where you have a legitimate complaint than ones which are flights of fancy.....

The description is misleading. Mobile patrols only patrol do lockups/Unlocks and alarm responses. Also out of hour deliveries for this employer.

Job purpose:

To provide a security service at the working location in line with the Assignment Instructions and customer requirements in order to protect the customer’s employees, property and other assets. To deliver the highest levels of customer service which consistently demonstrate *Employer’s* core values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness.

 

Where is the description misleading?

It doesn’t match with the description of the job with the same title in Victoria, Australia, but neither does that Australian job match with the description of the job with the same title in the USA.

As the job is clearly described, I can’t see what part is misleading?

It doesnt say police so not misrepresenting anything here. As already said you have quoted somehting from Australia that is totally irrelevnat to Uk employment law or trade makrs registrations or the law of deception. Durex is a common name for sticky tape in Oz, same as we rever to cleaners as hoovers or sticky tape as sellotape, both of which are actual trade marked goods.

 

For goodness sake, let it go or you will drive yourself insane and no-one will notice the difference!
