I took out at loan for £5300 in 2001 and repaid it in full in 2005.

I remember being told by the salesman at the car company (Carcraft Newport), that i had to take out the PPI on the loan.

I have done some research and discovered that Online Finance was bought out by GMAC, who in turn were subsequently bought out by Vauhall-Finance.

I have contacted them and they have checked their archive history and found my file.

They have been able to confirm the loan amount, start and end dates of the loan agreement, and the loan/credit agreement number. However, they don’t have my loan agreement scanned onto the archive system, so can’t say how much PPI i paid.

I spoke to their PPI claims team who refused to process a claim, saying that i had insufficient details for them to process it.

They advised me to go to one of these rip off claim management companies, which i have no plans to do!

I suggested to their customer services team, that i would submit an SAR for the original loan/credit agreement, and any other data they hold on their systems, but they have stated it would be pointless, as they have no further information available.

I know i paid PPI for this loan, as i remember quering it at the. Time of taking it out.

I want to claim but don’t know where i can go from here.

Any advice would be very much appreciated please.

Maybe i should still submit the SAR, regardless of what they have said.

they would not have been regulated in 2001 so a waste of time going after the creditor.

so find their PPI underwriters [GMAC] for that period

they MIGHT have been.
