Hi all.

I joined roko gym in June 2017,

I only wanted to join solely to use the martial arts classes that they gave,

I originally just wanted a rolling monthly membership as I'm in the military and could be deployed at any time.

When I seen the sales agent I asked about the martial arts classes and how much extra they were per session as on their weekly class planner it stated I had to pay extra but not the amount,

he told me it was £3 per session with a membership,

I was then upsold from a monthly membership because I'd be saving £120 a year so stupidly I took it.

when I went to the Krav Maga class I found out I'd have to pay £45 a month to go to their class aswell,

I think I've been missold the membership in the first place.

I continued to just use the gym for Krav Maga and never used any of their other facilities.

Then as I stated to the gym when I joined that it could happen

I got deployed at short notice

I cancelled my DD mandate as I thought this would serve as notice to them because unfortunately never had time to write them as per the contract.

Then the correspondence I received was an email about a month ago,

stating they haven't been able to take my monthly subscription as the DD was cancelled.

I emailed back stating my circumstances and that I would like to put in my notice for cancellation and I would be happy to pay the 3 months.

I received no reply from the gym.

The next thing I received is a letter from CRS saying I now owe £789.

I mean I was in shock when I received it.

Even my full membership except for the 2 months I paid was only £400

where they got this amount I'll never know,

I also received a text saying I should contact them immediately to discuss the matter.

I have not responded to CRS although I have re-emailed the gym about them just disregarding my email and selling my file to CRS when I was happy to pay the 3 months.

I was then told he did receive the email although he said by then it had already gone to CRS

when they had given me no time limit to pay it

just states they need the minimum amount of £39.99 to be paid or it will be passed over.

I received the email on the 27th July 2017 and replied on the 28th July 2017 so literally a day.

I don't want to reply or do anything I shouldn't before getting some advice.

I'm just worried about my credit score more than anything as I've been building it back up after being wreck less when I was young.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance for reading and responding to my problem.

Thanks

all you might ever owe is 1 payment FOLLOWING the cancelled of your DD for what ever membership you were a part of.

you are quite safe to ignore stupid DCA's

a DCA is NOT A BAILIFF

they have

NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS

and no a gym debt never harms your credit file.

pop around or look in the stikies on the forum homepage

for the slick132 letter .

send that offering 1 month payment to crs/hardlands/whomever

but not all the fees.

if they refuse tough luck ignore them

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I also was a member of a ROKO gym, and had to leave mid contract, they talk the talk but never walk the walk, very safe to ignore the clowns.

Just embarrass them on social media.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Hi Napoleo and welcome to CAG

Use one of my drafts to offer to pay just 1 month's fee. Send this to Harlands and, when they refuse to accept your time-limited offer, ignore them.

Tell them you had to cancel without notice due to the deployment but don't go into any further details, or offer to supply them with any proof.

You could adapt and use this letter.

Follow the advice about postage too.
