This is very scary - can the NHS really take more cuts !

Internal document reveals cost-saving options to plug £183m gap in funding for 10 hospital trusts in capital

Patients will be denied treatment, waiting times for operations will lengthen and A&E and maternity units may be shut under secret NHS plans to impose unprecedented cuts to health spending in London.

According to an internal NHS document seen by the Guardian, doctors in five London boroughs will have to spend less on drugs, fewer patients will be referred to hospital and support for people with severe health needs will be cut as part of the plan.

It outlines the “difficult choices” NHS bosses nationally are forcing the 10 hospital trusts in north-central London to make in the next few months in order to plug a £183.1m gap in their finances.

What do people expect. There's no magic money tree for the NHS, schools, social care, school meals or anything else. Oh wait, they found it in time to bribe a political party with links to terrorist organisations, to support them and keep them in power, despite warnings that this will endanger the Good Friday agreement. Nothing matters, nobody matters where the plutocrats are concerned.

Fit sprinklers in luxury apartments, penny pinch don't fit sprinklers, put inflammable cladding on social housing because it's only poor people who die.

The NHS would be in a far better state if Gordon Brown hadn't introduced the horrendous PFI which means a lot of NHS money is paid out to private landlords.

I see that JC is going to table an amendment to the Queen's speech in order to have the 1% pay cap reversed for emergency staff. I am listening to a debate on the Jeremy Vine show (chaired by IDS whilst JV is on leave) - one listener phoned in and asked if any other Civil Servant/Public Sector worker would put in the hours that Nurses do on such low wages.. Why do MPs, who have voted themselves massive increases over the past consider themselves to be that more valuable than a Nurse, Doctor, Paramedic, Firemen and Police ! Either 1% for all of them including MPS, or a fairer share for those on the lower pay scales.

"In 1992 PFI was implemented for the first time in the UK by the Conservative government of John Major."

Record high Taxes, Immigration, Excrement in waterways, energy company/crony profits

Record low: living standards and investment

Crumbling Hospitals, Schools, council services, businesses and roads

If only the Govt had thrown a protective ring around care homes with the same gusto they do around their crooked MPs

“This is specifically not allowed. Mr. Mansour used to be a Cabinet Minister in Egypt, he has given the Tories a huge amount of money, and immediately gets a knighthood.

That seems straightforwardly corrupt.  Shouldn’t they both be in jail?”

No it cant cB. Quite the opposite

although I do firmly believe that cosmetic (including gastric bypasses whatever the claimed long term potential savings) should be at least postponed until the backlog of other issues is under control.

I think we all knew this was the case, but it is important to see those beliefs proven.

My mistake, I should have wrote a billion not a million. It will be interesting to see how the DUP deal goes. Not to be trusted in my opinion

They have already shown their intent - voting with the Torys against the amendment proposed to end public sector pay limitations after they've been promised a £Billion of our money that could have gone to the NHS.

(I'm still waiting for some sight of the £350M a week extra Toerag Johnson and Co promised the NHS - to buy peoples votes)

Farron actually nailed it with

"This evening, the DUP have stood alongside their Tory paymasters cheering at the fact that they have withheld more pay for our police, our firefighters, our nurses and our teachers. Shame on them."

"In 1992 PFI was implemented for the first time in the UK by the Conservative government of John_Major

Most of the damage was done by Labour, even the current Labour leader admits this.

"Labour should take responsibility for resolving “the mess” left behind by private finance initiative (PFI) deals used to fund the building of hospitals under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, Jeremy Corbyn has said. In an article for the Guardian, the Labour leadership frontrunner said the NHS is now paying the price for New Labour having been “cowed by the press, and duped by the money men” when it used private finance for building health projects.

“Labour has a duty to remove the PFI burden from the NHS – this really was our mess, and we have to clear it up,” Corbyn said."

The other problems here, as the topic seems to have drifted to nurse's pay, is that it seems a stupid idea that it was made compulsory for them to have degrees and now bursaries have been withdrawn.

Our infrastructure is struggling to cope with the present population yet Corbyn is happy to allow more migrants into the country? Daft or what and he is supposed to be on the side of the people? Obvious he believes in his many supported by the few.

Jeremy Corbyn

As stated - somewhat off topic and been through this before.

Yes it wasn't stomped on by Labour and should have been, but it was started by thatchers approved mini-me.

Corbyn on economics - LOL

- but he has stated a truth that it should have been eradicated by labour - and not by paying off the beneficiaries.

Now how about Corbyn saying how he is going to pay for his policies once ALL the big businesses flee from a Corbyn Brexit?

(More expensive and difficult to run the business and more taxes and less pay - not saying that isnt what should happen, but nose and face comes to mind)

We know even less about a Corbyn Brexit than we do about a May Brexit,

and nowt except look after the Financiers and Services at all costs in a Hammond Brexit

- at least some might stay with a Hammond Brexit.

... None of which is what I want

Yes I want fair pay for our public servants and the cap unquestionably is unfair and unreasonable - BUT the money has to come from somewhere.

You dont see Corbyn refusing the MP's pay awards now do you?

Now although I agree with fair pay for Nurses and Firemen etc and appose whole heartedly the cap the Torys impose, I completely agree with a 24k absolute cap on benefits or even lower.

No way anyway anywhere anyone on benefits should be getting more than national minimum wage IMO.

How the heck can Corbyn pay for public pay awards and removal of benefits caps?

Even cancelling the Trident replacement (which we cant afford anyway) wouldn't cover it.

Its all smoke and mirrors, Corbyn even more so, whatever his stated goals/wishes.

and firmly back on topic

I've just seen an estimate that dropping the pay cap would cost about £5B up to 2020

£5B to our thousands and thousands and thousands of hard working front line Nurses, Doctors, Teachers, Firemen and Police sounds a darn bargain compared to giving £1B to 10 radical right wing nutters.

Might have won them the election too. Not giving it certainly played a large part in them losing.

Heres an interesting play - why didn't they just buy everyones vote?

£50 to vote Tory

- and have £70,000,000+ (£70M+) left over to replace the fire and cyanide cladding.

Mind you, Half of those who voted against probably still wouldn't vote Tory - so offer £100 a vote

- Shame Tory voters would probably get there first and grab the money before any potential Labour voters got a chance.

If the Tories had given every non-Tory voter £50, it would've cost £70m less than the DUP deal

Interesting that Johnson and Gove, The definitive £350M a week extra for the NHS if we vote Brexit self serving liars are now saying the 1% cap should be lifted.

It is of course self serving on their parts and you simply cannot trust a word they say .. but hey-ho quoting deals with devils May be required as long as we throw them out and lock the doors afterwards
