Hi,

My mobile phone had a cracked screen but was still working properly.

I handed my mobile phone instore to be repaired the same day for £70.

When it was returned it appeared to be working fine.

When I awoke the next morning the screen had completely blacked out and completely unresponsive.

I returned it to the shop where after 2 days they claimed that they opened it up and saw nothing wrong with it so they don't know what happened.

Now they are trying to get me to pay an additional £35 to buy an lcd to repair it which I think is completely unfair as I have been unable to use my phone for almost a week since they supposedly repaired it.

Can you please advise me on if I have a claim to get my money refunded or for them to repair it at not additional cost to me?

difficult one to judge really.

you'll need to prove its their fault that it no longer works.

how did the screnn get cracked, your fault without I doubt?

i'e you sat on it or dropped it?

Yes I dropped it and it was working just fine for months. Then when they fixed it became unusable the next day onwards

it could well be that the LCD was also damaged in the drop

but would not show itself till its taken apart and flexed itself under repair then failed.

I've done numerous phones and i've seen this myself.

you could negotiate with them along the lines of if a new LCD fixes it then p'haps a discount or how can they guarantee they didn't fruke it.

They said they opened it and nothing looked wrong. I just feel like I wasted £70 and I personally don't know if I can trust them again with my phone

well I certainly wouldn't charge £70 to change a screen

ofcourse depends on the phone.

but shops do sadly.

once you have the tools and watch a few youtube videos its really quite easy to do 90% of of 'em yourself with parts from ebay or alike.

IMHO it would be very hard to prove 'they' caused the fault

esp as it worked

how did you pay?

It is the Huawei p9. I paid cash and was given a receipt

Most places were charging 70-75. I went with this shop because it could have been repaired instore without being sent away

when did you purchase it?

under CRA , have you approached the retailer, with regard to repair?

I pers would not tell them its been repaired.
