Londoners wanting to leave Tory Party dwarf those seeking to join, suggests Google search data

https://www.yahoo.com/news/londoners-wanting-leave-tory-party-123000600.html

Twice as many Londoners have searched online on how to leave the Conservative Party than join it in since the general election was called, according to new research.

The data from Google Trends shows the reverse was the true for Labour, but not by as big a margin.

More people also searched on how to join the Liberal Democrats and Greens than those looking to leave.

The only party that mirrored the Tory trend in the capital was Ukip.

The most searched for political issues in the capital were in declining order Brexit, NHS, housing, immigration and mental health.

Rather strange that isn't it?

Particularly given the uproar at making folk sell their own homes to pay for their own care

I get excited about elections and referendums just as much as an adult, as I got excited about Christmas and birthdays as a child.

I have got my Poll Card blu-tacked on my living room noticeboard, until Thursday morning that is, and I shall hopefully be one of the first to vote at my local Polling Station (aka a church community centre place) when it opens on Thursday morning at 7.00 am, just after I get a daily paper from the local newsagent and posted a few letters in the postbox on route.

Basically, I do not want Jeremy Corbyn to set foot into Downing Street; and I voted to Remain in last year's Referendum, but although Tim Farron looks alright, I feel that a Liberal Democrat vote will not be enough to keep Corbyn out. Tactical voting for this election is the answer as far as I am concerned. May in June methinks.

Same here

but I want Theresa May to stay in Downing street even less, and Johnson even less than that,

As things have developed over this week with May really showing her true colours, much as I dont want too, I might even vote Corbyn being as the libdems really dont have a cat in hells chance with lame duck Farron.

Can't believe I'm going to do it but for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Labour as the party who offend me least. I've never voted Labour in my life, true blue Tory with one waver to the Lib Dems in over 40 years of having a vote.

Yes,

It really surprising how often I have seen people take a quiz which when answered truly tells us we have been voting wrong for most of our lives.

My journey to tomorrows vote has been:

Initially thinking if May is even half as good as her word - she wont be too bad at all

- to todays 'what a lying, two faced, BS'ing, self and millionaire serving, fear mongering, waste of skin

From Seriously considering a libdem vote right up until the last minute as generally they were the best bit of the coalition despite reneging on the fees and my believing that many remainers would vote for them - and me being a natural libdem (on quizes)

- to despair at the fuddled rubbish Fallon/farron whoever has waffled, dragging me to the conclusion that despite them almost certainly being the ones who would cause the least harm over the next 5 years, he just doesn't cut it anywhere near enough to generate the votes (really hope I'm wrong)

and from utter despair and disbelief at Corbyn winning the labour leadership and half baked rebellion

- to an even deeper despair that I have little realistic option but to vote for him as the lesser evil compared to May (as hightail also concluded) - by quite a long way.

It almost felt like a coin tossing situation - Corbyn v Brexit, but Brexit isn't Corbyn in this case. Better the devil you know.

Read the local candidates blurb as still torn

Libdem nondescript like leader (if only clegg or cable were leading)

Con is toerag like May and Johnson - weasel words then building expensive 3 story narrow modern slum eyesores on small plots in the midst of traditional housing estates against the peoples wishes whilst leaving a massive brownsite to wasteland.

Labour and green candidates seem decent local people

Voted Labour with a heavy heart, but doing anything else would have left heart heavier.

bookmakers go 1/10 for May and 13/2 for Corbyn. pretty obvious :(

possibly, but I'll be satisfied with May losing her fragile majority - and then having some more kicked out in the legal issues.

In fact no overall majority is my preferred result

Yes,

but its not just May, although she really is the bottom of the barrel, I agree with you about all the parties

(hence the 'no overall majority preferred result)

You can really understand why 'normal' people will vote for the Farages and Trumps of this world, they really think it can't get any worse and these liars are speaking to the voters souls when they say the establishment is corrupt - they just dont admit they are worse - then new lows are speedily achieved.

I think part of it is frustration that in a democracy like Britian I (and it would seem many others) think they are all not just crap - but lying through their teeth to us and unfit to hold office - ALL of them.

... and there is sod all we can do about it.

The only party that strikes me as reasonably honest in England is the greens.

and to add insult to injury - they will all come out saying they have the support of the British people for their crappy misrepresented policies.

I wouldn't shed one tear if every one of the front benchers on all three major parties died tomorrow, and I really do mean that.

Losing the very few good ones would be a small price to pay.

Mind you, the replacements would probably be even worse.

Well I seem to have got despairing desire of a hung parliament.

Just imagine what would have happened if Hilary Ben and a good team had been leading Labour, and someone had been leading the Libdems.

Lets see what May does now, will she do a Corbyn and hold on grimly or who replaces her?

Good result. The people have spoken again as they did when a coalition Government came about. The people are holding the politicians to account. They also don't like being taken for granted by saying it will be a Tory landslide. You also had the hardliners spouting getting rid of Labour altogether. That's dictatorship. Not a good idea.

Camerons Folly (to placate the Tory right) just keeps on taking doesn't it.

Hopefully major Tory catfight to entertain us now.

I think we should give them all real knifes and see who the last one standing is.

(Throw the wannabe jihadists in there with them too - the jihadists wouldn't last 10 seconds)

You'd hope the party will have a rethink now, as May follows Cameron in completely misunderstanding the mood of the people. They need to start listening.

There are comment in the press about conservative HQ being out of touch and bad advice from Downing Street.

Of course they will rethink how they need to present their 'message' HB

The policies wont actually change of course. Same with Corbyn.

I'm very disappointing that the tories didn't lose 30+ seats which would have been a far better result, especially if it had been a libdem revival - fat chance of that with whatsisname though.

When you think about it, the high drama headline 'Torys lose majority' doesn't really reflect the quite small loss of seats. It should have been lots and lots more with Mays appalling leadership.

Corbynites will of course be crowing that its Corbyns leadership - which is of course Codswallop.

Some small hope that electoral fraud will help the situation though (lol)
