Households are being told to brace for more price rises on fuel, food and other essentials in 2017 after the new year started with petrol at a two-year high.

The AA says motorists in the UK are paying 15p a litre, or an average of £8.25 a tank, more than a year ago, and economists say a higher oil price and weak pound will probably push prices up further this year.

Food prices rise as inflation returns to British supermarkets

Shop prices are rising across the UK's supermarkets once again for the first time since 2014, according to fresh industry figures by Kantar Worldpanel.

After 28 months of deflation in the market, like-for-like grocery prices have increased by 0.2 percentage points to bring a return to inflation.

The sector has been warning that prices will have to go up to cover higher costs as a result of a weaker pound. The rise of the discounters, Aldi and Lidl, had led the major supermarkets to slash prices in order to hold onto shoppers. However, the return of inflation suggests that the bitter price war might be drawing to an end.

Many people who voted for Brexit including older vulnerable people, will be regretting their votes. They have been reading the Daily Fail all these years and have been brainwashed.

If only they had been warned that exactly this was going to happen.

Wait....

Yep, they were informed. Labelled as project fear, fake news, experts what do they really know etc etc.

I think many on the right of politics who favour Brexit have a hidden agenda and they want the UK fo serve their interests without interference from the EU or ECJ. Brexit is most likely to cause severe hardship to many who voted for it and they will be unable to do anything about it.

So the entire reason that prices are going up is down to Brexit? nothing else? wow, who would of thunk it!

Prices going up...

Prices have been going up every year and this makes news.

Blaming brexit entirely for prices going up... Come on...

Brexit is the cause of the fall in the value of the Pound against most other major currencies. The current round of price increases is only the tip of the iceberg. I was in the Middle East for three and a half months and during that short time the Pound dropped almost 30% against the Kuwaiti Dinar! It fell less against other currencies and possibly more against others. As we buy most of what we consume from overseas and we pay in foreign currency (US Dollar, Euro or whatever) then prices are going to rise by the same level Sterling dropped.

Factor in other increases then the people on the lowest rung of income are going to be clobbered the hardest.

Sadly due to the untruths told by politicians over the years, they weren't believed when they were telling the truth - I think it is called.. 'Crying Wolf' !
