Not really related to unlawful charges, but here seems to be one of the largest group of clued up HSBC customers.

Anyhow, whilst looking through my statements I have noticed one pertciular direct debit called P.A.S which is generaly £7.99 a month. Looking through my older statements i notcied a similar charge, but called Policy Admin Charge.

So my question is what is does anyone know what this P.A.S charge is?

Thanks, Tim

I can help you with that one... I take it u used to have have mobile phone contract with Singlepoint? If so it'll be mobile phone insurance. I used to work for singlepoint (now taken over by vodafone) and we used to sell the product. If you want rid of it, (if you've not already done so) just cancel your direct debit and that will render the policy cancelled!

Looks like they changed it.

Could either be Policy admin Service charge

or Policy admin subscription.

is this a gold account or one where there are extra benefits over a normal account ?

Subscription fees and charges are non reclaimable since they are offering extra services which would benefit you.

7.99 is not bad since others charge anywhere between 12 and 15 quid for this.

Oops looks like NWSM pipped me to it.

Martin it is Policy Admin Services, they just changed the way their name came on the statements. Nothing on this occasion to do with special packaged accounts. It is an insurance for a mobile phone.

That would be the reason than, I wasn't sure whether this was related to HSBC and if cancelled could relate to more charges.

Well now I know what the charge is, I have another question.

Is this Policy admin service related to the Vodafone contract I used to have, so when I cancelled my Vodafone contract the singlepoint contract should also have been cancelled, or is it upto me to end the policy?

*EDIT* The Policy Admin Serv charge is for £9.99 and the PAS charge is for £7.99.

so is one of hese a HSBC charge?

Is it up to you to cancel the insurance policy yes, we didnt notify the insurance company that you were closing the mobile phone account and hence this would keep running.

Secondly it is definately the same company, and you'll find that the reason there were two different charges were because PAS started to charge different rates depending on the value of your handset.

Thirdly, when Vodafone bought out Singlepoint, it would not have made any physical differnce to you, one cancellation letter would have done the trick for the mobilecontract.
