Also interesting that Trumpettes are saying quick trade deals with the US can be quickly done 'piece by piece'   aka Anything the USA wants can be done quickly ... especially if it

A key plank of the US incursion is the banning of source of origin labelling so you don't know where the food comes from.

Err not quite. Here's the actual (unedited) quote by Lord James of Blackheath as recorded in Hansard:     https://hansard.parliament.uk/lords/2019-09-06/debates/0C259B8B-7232-4228-BB0

so how did we get here

Johnsons cabal voted against Mays deal, which was crap, but probably the best deal outside the EU that was available, with the Backstop there to give Britain time to get stuff up and running - not to be a backstop

Johnsons cabal kept voting it down then after bringing down May he voted for HIS version of the withdrawal agreement that implemented a border in the Irish sea far quicker than the backstop - this is NOT hindsight - it was s clear enough for all to see and stated here and in the papers at the time. An option far worse than Mays.

Johnson got his 'great deal' through

Johnson completely failed to engage in negotiations, and got left with his own great deal which implements a border in the Irish sea - as clearly defined.

Johnson decides HIS own deal he pushed through is crap and wants to renege on it

... when Johnson is happy to implement a Border + Visas to access a lorry park in Kent?

Well everything Johnson has claimed so far seems to have been completely denounced by various people with the exception of one 'hearsay allegation': Johnson the Liar claims that 'some people in the EU' have threatened to not list the UK as a third country effectively meaning no livestock could move from the rest of the UK to NI 'effectively blockading NI'

Not true (aka LIES)

https://www.nfuonline.com/news/latest-news/nfu-responds-to-uk-third-country-listing-approval/

""Responding to Defra’s announcement that the EU has granted the UK third country listing status, NFU President Minette Batters said:

“It is reassuring to hear that the UK now has third country listing in the event of a no-deal Brexit, which confirms that the UK has met the necessary animal health and biosecurity assurances required to export live animals and animal products to the EU.

“However, we must not lose sight that if the UK does leave the EU without a deal our exports to EU countries will still face significant barriers and the imposition of high tariffs.

Oh - and that is renege not renegotiate.

There are mechanisms for it to be renegotiated, but he has chosen to simply renege on his own withdrawal agreement

TJ, you linked to Twitter. :)

I am as well, to a Twitter thread by David Allen Green, the FT's legal man. I don't remember him being given to overstatement before, but he's talking about the distinct possibility of the UK being governed by decree and how this could come about with the current legal manoeuvres.

your chap seems right on the nails head and its long been stated that Cummings wants to be the power behind a dictator.

Niell is doing Johnson and his party a favour not the country, although I do believe Niells intent as 'honourable' he is mistaken.

This bill needs throwing out whatever 'good' stuff might be in it - its contaminated.

Undoubtedly if it is it will return in a similar form as 'all new'

Johnson is ripping the country apart just like Trump is in USA

Millibands well ripped Johnsons BS apart

"And let’s just get this straight for a minute, because I think it is important to take a step back, what the prime minister is coming to the house to tell us today is that his flagship achievement, the deal he told us was a triumph, the deal he said, as I said, was oven ready, the deal which he fought and won the general election is now contradictory and ambiguous.

What incompetence. What failure of governance. And how dare he try and blame everyone else.

Can I say to the prime minister, this time he can’t blame [Theresa May], he can’t blame John Major, he can’t blame the judges, he can’t blame the civil servants, he can’t sack the cabinet secretary again.

There’s only one person responsible for it, and that is him. This is his deal, it’s his mess, it’s his failure."

and johnson the liar quoting himself  in an article in the telegraph to support his allegation that the EU are NOT acting in good faith

Well rather than Johnson the liar quoting his own lies in the telegraph , hereare 2 quotes from the a just released Government body  report:

"These talks began in March and continued throughout the summer in a spirit of good faith and mutual respect for the delicate arrangements in Northern Ireland."

"The Government is extremely confident that the EU is working in good faith and shares our desire to avoid these serious consequences."

we have published the Government's response to our report on Unfettered Access: Customs Arrangements in Northern Ireland after Brexit.

and this

Brexit: Leaked document warns of queues of thousands of trucks waiting two days to cross Channel

at up to £20 billion annually - significantly more than the UK’s annual contributions to EU budgets.

(estimated by HM Revenue and Customs)

"A “reasonable worst-case scenario” says that queues of up to 7,000 trucks may clog up roads approaching Channel ports"

“It is estimated a maximum queue of 6,500 HGVs may develop in January,”

“Considering demand levels in the first week of February, it is estimated that if readiness does not improve by then, queues could reach a length of 7,000 HGVs.

"The system will provide a “Kent access permit” to lorries with the right documentation, allowing them to proceed to Channel ports like Dover. "

The government estimates that at least 200 million additional pieces of paperwork will have to be filled in by exporters each year as a result of Brexit, at a cost estimated by HM Revenue and Customs at up to £20 billion annually - significantly more than the UK’s annual contributions to EU budgets.

Its the ERG tail wagging the dog, evidenced by Shankar Singham being chucked at the Irish problem with his Mutual Recognition trope that seeks to undermine EU Standards and allow divergence by back door.

Well, Johnson The Liar has apparently told his wavering conscience MP's he might allow them some sort a vote on something, maybe even whether the UK will put the final nail in the coffin of the UK's international reputation

... if he doesn't just decide to claim he never meant that.

.. and we all know what his words worth - even in his own legally binding international treaty ...

The problem is that Johnson knows that he can do as he like, without losing the support of the Tally Ho, lets sock it to Johnny foreigner brigade who make up a sizeable minority of this country, but who live in the constituencies that keep the Tories in perma- power.

'The government is also set to table another amendment which sets clear limits on the scope and timeliness of judicial review into the exercise of these powers, according to the statement – a move set to provoke concern in legal circles.

The shadow attorney general, Lord Falconer, tweeted: “This doesn’t remedy the breaches of international law which arise from the bill. And it envisages restricting people who have private rights taken away by the powers in the bill from going to court to complain about it. Honestly it’s getting worse not better.”'

The Guardian has an article about why Lord Keen resigined over the internal market bill. I wonder who would want to replace him?

Journos are already suggesting that lawyers are avoiding applying for jobs with HMG and that civil servants are reluctant to speak truth to power because it can rebound on them. I expect it's at all levels in the civil service, but half a dozen top civil servants have gone and the relevant ministers have stayed in post.
