I hear Kent is being renamed to Gents.

The first stage of the rebranding is complete

and the Uk has apparently found its Armed Forces a future role if Johnson doesn't need them to quell unrest on British streets since scrapping his water cannon  ...

Well I have no idea whats actually happening regarding the Brexit negotiations, but I cant see any substantial meal deal occurring as Johnson is planning on not only bringing back the highly reported international agreement and law breaking legislation back next week - but also adding some more agreement trashing legislation

(Taxation (Post Transition Period) Bill)

Its 'interesting that many companies are planning on cutting/pausing supplies to NI,

not only because they have no idea whatsoever what the UK mechanisms are going to be, but most are (of course) international companies and so unlike the Johnson Government, will be loath to break international agreements.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/03/four-in-10-uk-food-firms-to-cut-supplies-to-northern-ireland-poll-brexit

Of course, theres also the 'other side of the world' trading group - but as well as being thousands of miles away, they also have rules and wont take kindly to agreement breakers

and who gains most from that 'thousands of miles away agreement? - as we already know with the UK-Japan deal ..

I get completely different pages depending on whether I'm logged in or not when I follow a link in

probably caused by my blocking half the waffle that clutters the pages up.

Be interesting to see whether labour support any shoddy half-baked 'deal' Johnson presents to parliament at the last minute

- no doubt deliberately last minute so there is no time to challenge it

Labour cannot support any deal that does not meet the commitments and assurances of the leave campaign generally and Johnsons claims specifically (remember the tests) and retain any credibility despite Corbyns period leaving them with few if any options - at least none that Starmer found.

Its also difficult for them to vote against it and the certainty of Johnson throwing blame for no deal (rather than a crap deal) at them

Seems to me that labours only real option is to abstain and let the splits in the Tory party show, unless they have some plan that hasn't occurred to me. SNP will almost certainly vote against a crap deal as will libdem remnants.

I think that both Starmer and Johnson are hoping that the time until the next election gives them a chance to get past Brexit, and Starmer will be relying on Johnson continuing his incompetence and cronyism

As Johnson offers to not break international agreements and international law (well this week anyway) if he gets what he wants ...

... Tell you what, on that basis, I wont do a dump in the middle of the high street (this week) if Johnson gives me a million quid

The alternate no10 speaker (Kuenssberg) apparently indicated the offer wasn't considered impressive by the EU either.

- we'll have to take her word for that for now as the EU is saying nothing.

Apparently johnson has backed away from his law breaking - for now - to drag things on a little nearer 'no time to do owt else'

and then theres this backdown as well coming to light:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/facebook-mark-zuckerberg-regulation-matt-hancock-b1767950.html

"Matt Hancock told Mark Zuckerberg in a private meeting that he wanted to shift the government’s approach to big tech companies, after the Facebook boss threatened to pull investment out of the UK.

Details of the meeting, which took place in 2018 when Mr Hancock was culture secretary with responsibility for social media regulation, are contained in official papers released to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism following a lengthy freedom of information battle."

This stuff's coming out daily now. A year after the PM told businesses in Northern Ireland that they could bin customs paperwork, guess what? Forms needed to send goods to Britain.

Very kind of the EU to allow the UK a waiver due to the UK's total preparednesses

-

Glad to see someone (The EU) is prepared to protect the good Friday agreement, as Johnson is clearly more than willing to trash it along with the UK's international reputation and international law on the alter of his rank incompetence and negligence

If Johnson had put as much time and effort into actually resolving the issue legitimately as he has in trashing the UKs' international reputation and word - the issue probably would have been resolved rather than needing a favour simply to put it back on the back burner - simmering ready to boil over again shortly

I see johnson 'The Liar' is now spouting ‘No PM should accept’ current deal'

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-news-live-deal-boris-johnson-eu-b1768474.html

Which is rather rich given his statements on the exit deal he dragged out of Mays' reject bin and implemented after describing a far better option as 'an abomination' 'which no British PM or he himself would or could ever consider and the current even worse 'deal is entirely of his own making.

No deal or next to no deal

The issue with next to no deal is that it delivers next to nowt and trashes johnsons standing with the brexiters which no amount of up selling will cover

Every single assurance by the Brexiters and vote leave - confirmed as just lies by Boris 'The Liar' and crew

Johnson is doing what Putin couldn't - ending the UK

Scotland will vote for independence, and Ireland will unify - both in the EU

That will leave England without a heck of a lot of the fishing waters (Gone NOT 'bartered') its using merely as a gambit and three quarters surrounded by the EU

and with a North (Ireland/Scotland/Nordic) and South (Ireland/France) sea trade routes bypassing England - which is already starting.

I read that Honda's problem is parts being held up at the docks due to backlogs, I'm not sure which docks. Felixstowe sounds pretty bad.

As for the rest of it, I have no idea which way it will go. Both sides seem to be saying that a deal is very difficult but it could be posturing. Some people are saying that as Bozo has gone to Paris, it's the UK which is more keen to agree something.

Yes, Its the increased throughput through the docks as companies TRY (and clearly fail) to ship extra stuff to stockpile.

So, remember what happened when little more than a single shift (9 hours) test of the new processes occurred?

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/nov/24/trial-of-brexit-border-checks-causes-five-mile-lorry-queues-in-kent

That a simple increase in throughput to stockpile (await the claims of boosted trade due to stockpiling) causes this sort of issue when the worst by far is yet to come ...

oh and lets understand the Irish Sea border temporary 'allowances

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/09/grace-period-for-brexit-checks-on-supermarket-supplies-to-northern-ireland

"There has also been a deal allowing 15 EU officials to be permanently based in offices in Belfast to help traders get to grips with the new system and monitor enforcement by UK officials. Their presence represents a U-turn for the government, months after it told Brussels they could not open an office in Belfast."

Oh - and the 'Australia' style deal - Move to Amsterdam LOL

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2020/dec/08/commonwealth-bank-australia-move-european-hq-london-amsterdam-brexit

LOL .. and Johnson say 'back down or its no deal'

Johnson has completely lost it

He's stuck between a worse deal than we had - which is any other deal than the one we had),

and No deal despite his quite clear and specific assurances.

... You can be sure than any achievable half worthwhile deal will be rejected by his ERG base, so all thats left is no deal apart from a small amount of things 'in the EU's benefit'

So he's probably relying on trying to blame labour - for which he needs some sort of a deal for labour to be whipped to vote for or against

- lose lose for Starmer.

He may even need labour to at least abstain to win - again a lose for labour

Operation Boris err Brock starts on Friday doesn't it, with Kent renamed to Gents and all the British lorries moved to stockpiled in Farage Garages/Johnsons Follies?

I believe they had intended to present it as climate emissions control planning until someone pointed out the likely massive increase in nitrogen, carbon dioxide, methane and an increase in Sulphur at the sites

British holidaymakers will be barred from the European Union from 1 January under current Covid-19 safety restrictions, with the EU commission indicating there will be no exemption for the UK.

Only a handful of countries with low coronavirus rates are exempt from rules that prohibit nonessential visitors from outside the EU and European Economic Area (EEA) – with the UK included only until the end of the Brexit transition period.
