You don't get a good deal from the USA, look at all the tech we gave them during and after World War II, then they tried to stop us using the tech we invented and provided to them.

from memory, I think one of the documentarys briefly mentioning that was called something like world war II from space, but cant remember what the handover was called.

I'll look it up when I get home.

... bit awkward doing it through connection to the home proxy despite its great buffering for tab/phone access.

I think that second line says it all apart from a little issue

I can see any however limited deal being agreed by 31/12/20  and be used to satisfy UK Johnsons great deal rhetoric

Yes we could, the time between the 31st January and 31st December is a Transition period where the relationship going forward is decided, No Deal is still a danger, best way out would have been EEA/EFTA, but the rabid Remain camp wouldn't support as it is Leave, and the ERG, and extreme hard Brexiteers wouldn't as they said its BRINO. so a mess for sure.

We could do with some help from you.

No deal isn't happening, and I don't see any distinction currently between leavers and remainers.  What we have now is camp Johnson.. it's whatever he wants to do.  Whatever way he wants to shape the UK's future relationship with the EU etc

just look for what the EU want, and what they are likely to give for it.

Financial services except in limited form would appear to be out the window

EU firms have started setting up small subsidiaries in the UK, and vast amounts of UK finance has already moved - including a number of prominent Brexiters - like rees-mogg, Dyson and Redwoods customers (on his advice)

Barclays alone has apparently moved in the order of 166BILLION in assets to Dublin, Total (the company) Financial £110BILLION going to France,

with well over 900BILLION already confirmed moved (despite the secrecy inherent) by the start of this current financial year  (Last April)

A deal on a number of Goods/foodstuffs where a UK/USA deal wouldn't prevent it seems certain.

The UK car industry will likely continue with accelerated collapse. Unless you are rich, Hope you all like the thought of cheap Indian clones of 1970 cars ..

If you are rich, then the increased cost of a BMW will likely not bother you

...Of course the Tesla gigabattery factory is going to the EU, and as already stated - Dyson has legged it.

Ireland's goods would seem to be on the track to bypass the UK and go straight to France/Norway as noted in the rail discussion

(thanks to brassnecked for pointing out some misconceptions I had there which led me to reassess- and hopefully redress my lack)

" The BBC is expected to announce hundreds of redundancies as staff brace themselves for heavy cuts to high-profile news programmes and an increasingly centralised system for producing the corporation’s journalism."

There are claims that the new centralised source for all news will be based at Dominic Cummings twitter feed.

GOOOD question .....

I know lots of people from all sides complain about the BBC's reporting, with associated claims that 'so they must be fair if everyone is complaining'

I don't see that. I see the BBC as a very Conservative leaning service

Honest and accurate on most matters, but when it comes to politics, traditionally and generally Tories always get a much easier ride than any Labour viewpoint.

Of course, the current Tories are NOT Conservatives, they are populists, and have not had the same level of 'benefit of any doubt'

Even the 'rightest BBC presenters have had issues with some of the crap.

We do need to carefully differentiate between BBC reporting and BBC investigations/investigative journalism

Bet the investigative journalism that like channel 4 has been an embarrassment to the populist and harder Tory polices (as well as Corbynite garbage) gets hit hardest with a lot of the independence gone,

So GOOOOD question

While the Corbynistas suggest their victims call the Samaritans

"

Labour tells defeated candidates they can call Samaritans

Labour party officials have been mocked for sending out an email to defeated candidates advising them they could contact Samaritans or 999 if they are distressed or suicidal – six weeks on from the general election loss.

One defeated hopeful said the timing of the message felt like “a p***take”, while another unnamed Labour figure said it was “a complete joke”.

Phil Wilson, who lost his seat in Sedgefield, said: “It seems like they have been forced into showing some kind of empathy,” said Phil Wilson, who lost Tony Blair's former seat of Sedgefield.

Labour are irrelevant now, it's of their own making, and it's going to take years if not decades to come back. Nothing that they say or do makes any difference anyway, they are not an effective opposition.  It might take them another 5 years to even realise this and start changing.

Change to what though?  It seems everyone wants them to change, but there's very little clarification on what is wanted.  People don't want a Blairyte Labour, but they don't want a left wing Labour.  They don't want a centre ground Liberal party.  Maybe this is just a reflection of Brexit, which has cast a very large cloud of confusion over the country.

I heard a Brexiteer on LBC yesterday bemoaning the fact Huawei were being engaged to implement 5g, and why couldn't we find a British company to do it.  Did he vote for a Labour government that would have given us greater control like the referendum stipulated?  No, he voted for Johnson who will serve his own self interest and will give anything but control to the people that voted to leave the EU.  The things he was talking about were literally in the Labour manifesto.

Thats not what the voters have said is it Jase?

How many years was Blair in power ... ?

What did the voters show of their opinion of Corbyn?

- They don't want him no matter what the other choice might be.

Any real doubts that had a 'Blair been leading labour against May/Johnson it would have been anything other than a labour victory?

May would never have called that election where she lost her majority at least - she would have lost the government.

In fact, any real doubts of almost anyone else being Labour leader would see the leave vote winning?

I don't. Not for a second.

The guy has actually been an utter blight on the UK and the hopes of working people.
