I can say from working in shopwatch for 30yrs until of recent

you would have been pulled up there and then and the police would have been involved

as for the CCTV

its not kept more than 28days where I worked.

Fingers crossed and certainly won't be doing it again but, if they do come here I suppose it's my overdue commupence for being an utter pillock when I didn't even need to be! Thank you for you advice and reassurance. Guess I will just have to wait and see

The police have far better resources than boot's club card info if they wanted to find your address. Bottom line is they werent looking for you.

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday to assist in the reassurances given by others.

 

To be clear, no two shoplifting cases are exactly the same so in the threads where the police were involved, there would have been other factors involved. As DX has mentioned, the keeping of recordings is rare unless they are going to be used in a court case.

You have to remember, CCTV coverage is live and no security guard is going to have the time to trawl each and every days videos. A store can be open up to 24 hours. They only use the CCTV when they spot a shoplifter on camera or when alerted by the shop floor staff. Any other recordings will be deleted in line with the Data Protection Act guidelines on data retention.

 

At the moment, you are suffering and you need to take control. Get the help you so obviously need and then stop dealing with the 'what ifs' Nobody can say what WILL happen only make educated guesses based on our past experience with the other cases on this forum. Rather than search for cases where the police visited a house, look at all the other ones as well.

 

You are causing yourself too much stress over something that may not be as bad as you fear.
