I just zeroed the balance on my RBS MasterCard and MBNA MasterCard by transferring the balance to my BarclayCard Visa (0% till Aug 17).

However, both of them still went ahead and took the minimum payment by direct debit.

Both cards are now in credit by £46 and £23 respectively.

Are they allow to do this and can I get the credit back without using the cards to buy something?

can you not go via the DD guarantee via your bank?

did they send a bill stating they would take the minimum sum?

if they didn't

they DD guarantee will work ok

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi,

This happened to me last week with my Capital one card, I'm not sure how it works but the dd seems to have been 'triggered' before my balance was cleared.

Sorry I'm not sure how you would go about getting the credit back.

I first thought about withdrawing it from an ATM but there is a minimum charge for this so that's a non starter.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

Yes the minimum payment was on the last statement but I cleared the balance about 2 weeks before the minimum payment was taken. Seems they calculated it from the last statement and didn't take into account payments made since the last statement.

I asked this exact question with Capital One and this was their response

Message

Afternoon

Just a quick question. If extra payments are made during the billing cycle by online banking that covers the minimum payment requirement,

Will that minimum payment still be taken out at the end of the month by Direct Debit??

Many thanks

Memo Thank you for your message.

I would like to let you know that direct debit is an automatic payment method which claims the amount set up on the account. We can't stop this payment being claimed unless your manual payment clears the full statement balance and is added to your account at least three working days* before the Direct Debit claim date.

I hope I've clearly explained this. If not, or you need any other help, please send us a further secure message.

(* Please note Capital One’s working days are Monday-Friday excluding bank holidays.)
