Hi,

I received a letter from horizon parking about 4 months ago saying that I had overstayed in the car park by about 7/8 hours,

I wrote to them to appeal saying that I had not stayed that long when I had actually gone in earlier in the morning then came back in the afternoon as well

I don't think the camera caught me going out or back in

only caught me coming in the morning and going out in the evening

it looked like I had stayed for the full time there.

They asked me for receipts to prove I had been in but who actually keeps receipts.

I asked a friend what to do and ignored the reply and now I've received this letter from Debt Recovery Plus saying I need to pay them.

What is the best option for me as I don't want to pay the fine as it's definitely not my fault.

Will they take me to court?

its called double dipping

and is purposefully done by the PPC to increase revenue.

so their equipment is not fit for purpose either.

can you check carefully.

I don't think they use the word FINE anywhere as you have?

its a speculative invoice

hoping to spoof a mug that know no better into coughing up.

Hi and welcome to CAG

As this has got as far as the parking companies pet debt collector, I suggest sitting on your hands. It is way past appeal to POPLA. Did Horizon not give you a code?.

The only time to get active is if a Letter Before Action/Claim or court papers arrive.

In the past 2 years, Horizon have taken the vast amount of cases to court totalling ZERO!

So did you receive a rejection letter from Horizon with a POPLA code?

Complain vigorously to Sainsburys about how agents of theirs are hounding customers. It would help if you had a bank/cc statement from the day.

Do not respond to any toothless debt collection company.

agree, tell Sainsbury's head office that their pet parking co is rooking its loyal customers by this method of recording 2 visits as one and then demanding payment and when you aregue put the bill up by another £xx (dont mention the dca at this juncture) Sainsburys wont normally be interested in someone 's parking but this will get their attention.

Hi, thanks for your reply, it did not say fine it said unpaid parking charge, what would be the best option for me to just wait and hope it doesn't go to court?

NO, get on to Sainsburys and kick up a big fuss,

they employ these bandits and they can sort out the mess.

Having said that it is the Sainsburys shareholder AGM in july,

I might just use my shareholding to ask them a question as long as mrs Eric can find

something to shop for whilst up in town while I drink their tea and eat jammie dodgers.

Ignore DRP though.

Debt collectors are there to scare you into paying because you don't know the rules. A DCA can do nothing apart from send scary letters.
