I got a message for LCS today regarding my account with Scottish power.

I than contacted Scottish power to ask if everything is ok with my account

they said everything is fine and they have not set LCS for my account

the representative lined me to the LCS to check why they send me this msg and

there the lady took all my information details like where name, address, birth date

I asked why u want them she said just want to verify with what they got from Scottish power.

She said I have around £120 outstanding amount to pay

and that she will send me a mail with the break through but I never got the mail

and now I am worried that is it a [problem] or something and what can they do with my personal details.

Please advice.

if everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's tomorrow

I know I am not in any debt. How safe are my personal details with them?

LCS are a debt tracing company who do not seem to want to let go once they have your address.

Anything else you get from them .

Pass it on to Scottish Power asking them to deal with it

pointing out that Scottish Power is responsible for the actions of LCS

and you will not hesitate to complain to the FCA about harassment should you get any more emails from LCS.

I doubt that LCS would try and steal money from you but by giving them that information

[and presumably information that Scottish Power already had and should have passed on to LCS]

you have opened yourself perhaps to getting more emails from them .

It is usually best to ignore requests from DCAs.

LCS also feed from the same trough as 1st Locate.

1st Locate UK Limited.

There has been lot of non flattering comments over the years, regarding 1st Locate and LCS here on CAG and the internet.

But I cannot seem to find any reference to LCS in the company house records.

Stigman.

I can find the company records of 1st Locate, but nothing for LCS.

LCS is a Trading Style of 1st Locate so therefore you will not find any individual Company information.

1st Locate has decided to call some of itself LCS purely for marketing purposes.

Thanls for the update. Can i advise that next time a DCA or tracing company contacts you, you do not give them ANY info and certainly do not speak to them on the phone. The reason they ask for personal details is so they can fill in the blanks around an alleged debt to make it look like the debt is yours. Sadly, many people fall for it.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks
