What price jobs to the most suitably experienced and qualified or even most promising, whatever their race, colour or creed?

Comm on sense tells us that ANYTHING which declares or requires a specific race, colour, sex or creed as a prerequisite is prejudicial, be it a job with the Police, BBC or whatever.

 

and if the womens institute can ban men, then mens clubs can ban women - else NEITHER can.

Rubbish. It is not prejudicial or sexist to advertise a job 'women only' to work in a womens changing room and there are a million other such reasons.

I'm sorry but this is just another non story from the BBC hating Daily Fail. They will find any reason to rubbish the Beeb. Even you must notice that both sides of the political spectrum complain that the BBC is too far left/right which must mean the BBC are doing their job.

 

In some sectors of the media, people of colour can get access to areas that white people never get access to because of perceived prejudice hence the need for BAME staff (albeit just an internship).

 

Women banned from golf clubs. OK. Men banned from womens only groups. OK How would you feel if abused men were allowed to share accommodation with abused women at a refuge?

Of course its prejudice, there are always 'reasons' for it, and a few of those 'reasons' might even actually be broadly reasonable in certain circumstances but it is still predjudice

Being seen naked or seeing people naked in itself is surely a cultural issue, as anyone who has spent time abroad would know.

Absolutely silverfox, we all have our little 'prejudices', but that doesn't make any of them right.

 

Neither do they need to only be against 'protected characteristics' to make them wrong - that just makes then unlawful, whether they are wrong or not.

You do realise that so called BBC employment list people are salivating over is nothing more than a training aid??

 

It is educating new HR employees to Equality Check what they put out prior to a full release.

Positive discrimination to one group, whatever that group is, is negative discrimination against everyone else.

This one is well worthy of further examination i think.

Trauma is very different to discrimination.

Trauma can be triggered by anything.

 

Yes, in the event of a female trauma which is related to males, with 'males' being a trigger,

then until the issue is resolved that person (male or female) should sometimes be buffered from the trauma trigger - which happens to be males in your example silverfox. The trauma trigger could just as easily be a female, a mother figure or a dog for the that same person.

 

But it is equally possible that in some circumstances, the mingling of opposite sexes who have experienced 'similar' (whatever that is) trauma could be cathartic.

Difficult thing trauma with few hard and fast rules.
