Hi.

I took a loan out with Avantcredit August 2015.. stupid idea!

I pay 125 a month and the balance has only gone down by £300!

The interest is so bloody high..

my own fault I know,

but I had an urgent need for it and my credit wasn't the best so I was unable to get any better deals..

my credit union have agreed to clear this loan for me (I will pay my credit union monthly which MUCH less interest)

however they will only make payments on my behalf via BACS/Bank transfer.

Advantcredit are being difficult saying they won't give me their account number or sort code to pay with.

. is there anything I can do to get around this?

Would a complaint to the ombudsman do anything?

I spoke to a lady from Advantcredit last week who said she didn't think it would be a problem.

Then this week everything has changed and apparently they won't be giving the details to me?

I feel as though they are placing barriers deliberately to inhibit me from paying this off early

(and saving myself thousands in interest)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure they're not entitled to refuse early payment and if you have a legitimate way of paying them then they are obliged to accept that.

I suggest that you read our customer services guide, implement the advice there and then while recording the call, speak with them on the telephone and record them refusing to accept your proposals for the manner of payment.

Then write to them and tell them that they are treating you unfairly and that you're proposing to go to the ombudsman. Disclose to them that you have a recording of them refusing to accept the payment in the way that you have suggested and that this recording will be passed to the ombudsman as well.

Let us know what happens

you could force their hand?

phone your bank and cancel the CPA against the card in their name.

email the ceo first and complain as above

See I would do but I don't want any negative marks putting on my credit file (it's taken me a while to repair)

I've emailed the ceo and if he doesn't offer any solution I will put a complaint in with the ombudsman. Do you think it's likely I'd have a case?

They're not allowed to refuse any payment towards a debt. Email their CEO and get the FSA involved
