Im in Scotland.

I have sold my house, the sale date is Fri 29th Apr.

I asked my solicitor how soon i will get my money.

They told me 5 working days.

The money needs to clear blah blah,

I can get it in 3 working days if the other solicitor agrees to use a different type of payment,

which of course involves a fee.

Does this sound normal.

I desperately need this money to go and find myself accommodation.

Im shocked why it takes so long.

Can you guys advise please.

Not sure if Scotland is different but in England it goes through on the day of sale for me. How can it not be cleared funds to hand the keys over to the buyer?

My thoughts too, im always wary that these folk like to leave the money in their account for a few days to gather interest.

It costs nothing for a "faster payments" transaction.

Had my money on day of completion, sale was in england

Thats reassuring, this is what i need to happen. I dont see why the transfers in Scotland would be different.

I phoned them up again.

Trying to find out more,

why cant get the money on the same day.

She said it depends on when they receive the money that day.

Plus their cash office wont have logged the money until the next working day.

they can pay out until this is done.

I dont know if this is true or more waffle.

If i want to be paid by CHAPS i will be charged £55,

i still wont get the money on the day of sale.
