I think things are about to become very interesting following this leak of data.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3521830/Tax-havens-world-s-rich-famous-revealed-huge-data-leak.html

There is an estimate of there being up to $50 trillion held in the various tax havens, which is almost enough to completly wipe out worldwide government debts.

I wonder how much of this money has involved criminality in some form.

All of it if tax evasion is a crime, and lots of it even if tax evasion isnt a crime where the companies/people really make their money.

and The BTITISH Virgin Islands a prime offender.

Expect the British government to say the leak was the crime ....

LOL

Apparently PM Camerons father had craploads of money held there and allegedly never paid a penny in UK tax. (source France24)

So much for Camerons inheritance ....

I have never trusted Cameron, as my instinct has been that he is not someone fit to be PM. It is just the way he has grown up working for Tory party central office, being special advisor to different ministers, before somehow getting the party leadership. I am not a fan of these party special advisors creeping their way into power, by making enough friends in a political party.

Just on Panorama

Interesting that they did loads on a chellist because he's a mate of Putins, yet our PM's father got a brief mention lost in the middle.

I think our nation would be far more interested in our political leaders family than a mate of Putin.

I would imagine that with 11.5 million files to go through, a few Brits will be having a squeaky bum time. While David Cameron doesn't have to defend his father, it does raise issues that he may have condoned this.

More in this is bound to come out and I wonder how many of the elite members of society are involved. Money comes to money!

I was disappointed in the programme really. Wasn't it Cameron who brought in the register to avoid "secret" companies such as was reported on. Yes, quite a lot about the cellist who is a pal of Putin and also the Icelandic Prime Minister.

Interesting that the gold from the Brinks Mac bullion heist was laundered through that Company and they appear to be aware of that ?

Yes,

One would think knowingly (per the document shown) laundering the proceeds of crime is a crime in any country.

Early days !

More will come out and nobody is going to admit anything, when Police and the various tax authorities will be investigating.

I suspect that they will only go after lower fruit first and see how they get on.

From what i could see, some of the allegations are of tax evasion and money laundering.

This is going to rumble on for years.

How is Britain connected to these tax havens?

Mossack Fonseca, the world's fourth biggest provider of offshore services, has acted for more than 300,000 companies, of which more than a half are registered in British-administered tax havens, as well as in the UK itself, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism reported.

http://mashable.com/2016/04/04/panama-papers-british-politicians/#4c7eP9wRgaqH

An offshore investment fund run by the father of British prime minister David Cameron avoided ever having to pay tax in Britain by hiring a small army of Bahamas residents to sign its paperwork.

Interesting read re the Cameron family

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_of_David_Cameron

As a magistrate, Mary Cameron imposed prison sentences for peaceful anti-nuclear weapons protest by women at the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp

Wonder if there is a job going as a nominee in a tax haven ? Quite happy to be based in the Caribbean or Bermuda.

As long as they paid me well and signed up legal documentation to say there were no issues of criminality or tax evasion.

If you have to hide ownership of companies in places like Panama and filter money through tax havens, there is something dodgy going on. It cannot be totally legal and compliant with all tax rules, whatever those involved are saying.

I don't trust UK authorities to investigate this properly, without coming under pressure politically and from those with special interests. It might take the US authorities to act in a tough way, to force the hand of UK agencies to follow them.

I'm not certain on this yet, but I saw one report that Camerons' fathers' tax avoidance company processed money for a certain media mogul

The General Public were purposefully misguided before the 2015 election. The lies David Cameron told before the election have now been widely acknowledged as such, and it is only reasonable that the public should be allowed to vote with full knowledge about his true agenda in 2016.
