I applied for a loan a few weeks back but was offered the loan at more than double the advertised rate which I rejected. I applied for another one last night which I was instantly rejected. I am confused at this as I have a good credit rating, in full time employment and a homeowner. I've had loans in the past no problem.

I've applied for my experian credit report but it hasn't came through yet. However I was wondering if the fact Rossendales Collect (acting as DC) are chasing me for legal aid fees would have something to do with it? I've also received threatograms from DR+ for a parking fine which I refuse to pay (I'm in Scotland)

Would Rossendales have entered something on to my credit report?

Check all 3 credit reports. If they're rejecting you, then something is on your report or the info you gave them doesnt meet their requirements

Nothing on Clearscore although Rossendales did do a soft search in March last year.

I score 5/5 on Noddle although I've just found out I am still financially connected to my ex partner whom I split with in 2006. I'll ask experian to remove the connection once I receive my report. I wouldn't think this would affect me though as since we split I've had a couple of loans and change my mortgage a couple of times.

If she is now in financial dire straights would this affect me?

If youre connected, very possibly.

Why not speak to the lender that turned youd own for a loan, and ask them why. Theyll tell you if you ask them. It will give you a good starting point at least.

A good credit score is not the only criteria for being accepted for a loan, they will consider affordability amongst other things, like number of searches etc, a lot of searches for example would indicate refusals.

I complained but they said they couldn't tell me. That's HSBC and Hitachi off my Christmas card list

They can if you SAR them. But to be honest, with the response they gave, its probably you dont meet their lending criteria. If it was something to do with your credit file, theyd tell you.

I've a feeling most of them don't know the reason.

It's often a lottery when applying for a loan I reckon most of them bump up their interest rates when you apply.

Have you tried your own bank ?

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)
