Hi there, apologies if ive posted in the wrong place, as im new to the site.

Im only 21 and quit my job just before Christmas,

for about the last 2 and a half months i have been disconnected from Vodafone service due to me having no income.

This is my own fault and the monthly payments have stacked up meaning i owe £120 in total.

Two days ago i paid off £100 of the debt and plan to pay the last £20 today,

this morning i received a text message from Fredrickson International

instructing me to sign up on fredpay or contact them immediately on a number.

I have read a few threads on here

i'm not entirely sure as to what my next move should be.

I phoned vodafone without mentioning the text from Fredrickson

and they said my remaining debt on the account was £20,

making it seem like i dont owe any extra fee's and what not.

I live with my dad mostly but i am registered at my mums old house,

so whether or not they have been sending letters i cant confirm,

i will go and check tonight.

But as far as im aware this is the first contact between me and them.

Reading how far some of these threads go

im somewhat concerned somehow theyre going to turn up at my house or something,

as im a fairly anxious person.

My main hope is that once the vodafone debt of £20 is cleared i will hear no more from them,

but im not entirely sure.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Thanks in advance,

Laurie

Hi and welcome to CAG.

Vodafone do not have their own in house debt collections team so they pass it on to Freds to chase. Do not bother contacting them and deal purely with VF. I suggest that you phone them but record the call as the customer services will say one thing and Freds will say another. You could also do an on line chat but keep a copy.

In the meantime, I will add the VF twitter link and hopefully one of the web team will come on and have a look to see if they can help.

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

So VF have offloaded the account in what, just a couple of months ?

If you have made the final £20.00 payment today, then you have absolutely nothing to fear from Fredericksons.

What will happen next once you have made the final payment to VF - will your service be reconnected or have they cancelled your contract/agreement with them ?

There should be no debt collection fees !

Correct but as we know VF add their own spurious fees to debts when passed on to DCAs. If the account has been cancelled then there should be termination fees but no admin fees

If you login to your fredrickson account online it will show you your balance that you owe them.

It's likely that as you are in default vodafone have passed the debt on to fredrickson to collect on their behalf.

I only dealt with them online and as long as you are willing to make repayments they will leave you alone.

They will have definitely sent you a letter explaining all this.

There is no point in ignoring them, you might as well just pay them

and get it out of the way which you seem willing to do anyway.

Probably one of the easiest debt collectors to deal with as you can do everything online.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me

because I've dealt with both vodafone and fredrickson in the past.

Hey everyone thanks for the replies.

Went to my mums and found a letter dated 5 days ago, so its obviously arrived very recently.

Says if i dont pay what i owe vodafone before the 18th

then my contract will be terminated

and i will incur fees for early termination as well as owing the rest of my contract.

But it SEEMS that if i pay the remaining £20 that should be the end of it. You reckon?

Yes just pay directly to vodafone until you are told otherwise. You'd only need to pay fredrickson if vodafone sold the debt and account to them which thankfully they haven't.

Nope. You dont even pay it then. As they dont buy debts.

Hi Laurie,

From the information you've provided, I'd say that once you've paid outstanding £20 (inc. VAT) your account will be up to date and debt recovery action will stop.

However, to prevent this situation from arising again, you'll need to make payment of your future monthly bills by the due shown on each bill.

If you need to discuss things further with me, email me via the Contact us form here.

To access the form you'll need to enter the code WRT135.

Once sent, you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Post back with this so I can make sure I've got it.

Kind regards,

Lee

  • 2 months later...

Hi everyone.

I posted a couple of months ago after owing a month or twos contract payments to Vodafone.

Managed to get everything sorted out and im now back in a job,

as of next week I should be ok to start getting everything back in order.

But, alas, after paying another £80 to Vodafone for the current month and preceding months charges,

I began getting texts and calls every morning between 10 and 11 am.

It's a real pain and I've phoned Vodafone to ask if I owe anything more, to which they assured me I didn't.

I said that Fredeicksons were bugging me but they said they shouldn't be in contact with me as I don't owe any money.

Any idea what to do next?

I was told last time to completely ignore them,

and I can continue to do that but it concerns me they may never stop.

Thanks in advance!

What you require from Vodafone is their assurance that you owe them nothing, in writing. You can then forward a copy to Frederickson.. after which, if they continue to harass you - you can take legal action against them.

Even though the debt has been paid, I expect Fredrickson's are up to their usual tricks of trying to get charges out of you that do not exist.

As above, get it in writing, forward a copy to Freds (keep the original) and enjoy your life.
