The dealer is the credit intermediary, not the lender. That is VWFS. Call them again, call VW customer care, call the supplying dealer, make an appointment with the dealer Brand Manager, stick to your guns and do not cave in. If you wanted to frighten the life out of the dealer you could mention the possibility of mis-selling, the FCA, and governance of their transaction. They are almost certain to have not followed the correct process somewhere.

Just trying to help. Sorry if I shouldn't be posting on them though. I've received help from this forum today and was trying to 'pay it back/forward' whichever is the expression.
