Dear All,

This is my first post so please excuse me if it's in the wrong section etc.

I had a property repossessed in 2010 & the mortgage was with Northern Rock.

All relationship with them had broken down

& I ended up leaving the property vacant before the repossession date

& have never been back to it since.

I locked it & walked away

After a few months I checked Zoopla & the property had been sold at a ridiculously low price therefore leaving a substantial shortfall.

I've never heard a word from NR until a strange letter arrived at my parents house (where I now live) yesterday

stating that my file had been recalled from their external agent PRA

& transferred back to their internal collections team.

It is also asking me to contact them to discuss repayment.

It doesn't give any other details & at first I wasn't even sure what it referred too.

I have never had any contact from this PRA group.

So what are your thoughts?

I've obviously no intention of contacting them as I think they're just fishing for information

plus it's taken them 6 years to find me.

Thanks to anyone that can offer some advice.

Thanks Martin,

I had heard that but I had also seen an article about certain lenders writing off the debt if no contact was made in 6 years. I'm not going to contact them now. I think I'll wait & see what happens as it was quite a vague letter.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Check your credit file if you havent done so already, once you are certain that 6 yrs has passed, send the letter that dx has posted a link to above.

There is still a 12 yr rule regarding mortgages but the above letter should put a stop to any further requests for payment.

Many thanks dx100uk

After reading your attached letter I wonder if that's why they're now pursuing it? This PRA Group interests me as I've had no contact from them but I assume they're some sort of debt collector agency. There is a website but it doesn't give much info. Also why would NR start to deal directly if they've had these people looking for me. Their letter stated it was now down to me to contact NR directly. I'll sit tight for a while but many thanks for that letter. Sorry Martin, my reply & your post crossed. Thanks once again for your help

Ok, if you do decide to send the letter it would go to NR.

it speaks volumes that a no powers DCA - the PRA group

- formerly aktiv kapital uk

was handed the supposed shortfall debt.

if NR could have enforced it

they wouldn't be pussy futting around using a no powers DCA

they'd goto court.

they know full well they [NR] had to formerly write to you within 6yrs

they haven't

end of the matter.
