Received by quarterly bill from the gas company. for the period of September to January the reports are advising we have used 34500kwh.

We live in a 1970s Semi, average use with only a gas boiler for a gas appliance.

The Gas company have asked to monitor our meter,

The meter went 26/01/16 @ 09427.459m3 to 27/01/16 @ 09466.295m3.

No 5 days on it is at 09505.015m3.

The mind is baffled.

how old is your meter? It may be actually reading Cu Ft and you are being billed for m3 which is an error of roughly 27x

also what is the thermal output of your boiler as a decent one on full blast will use 0.5 l of gas a second (this isnt as much as it sounds, about 15kW/h)
