I've never played one so not sure exactly what it involves but machines like that are not called 'bandits' for nothing

 

There's plenty of things we may think should be banned but people have choices and have to make them.

A friend of mines Dad ran a company supplying slot machines to arcades, pubs and clubs. From what i remember him saying, the machines were a great money maker, as the odds of winning are set very low. Some of the machines even allowed the operator to change the odds.

 

My Brother owned a chip shop for a short period and made almost as much money from the few slot machines he had.

I don't doubt that for one minute.

My issue with them and in particular in bookies is they seem to be more focused in poorer areas..

In a local area near to me in south London there are nine bookies in a very small area, can anyone beat that..

I work a lot in Glasgow and it's the same, poorer areas seem to be flooded with Bookies.

These machines are in pubs and clubs across the country, the people who have the machines have to pay a licence fee to have them. If you have problems with them you can complain to Trading Standards about the machines.

They weren't poor before the bookies set up shop.

The law hopefully will be changing in that more stringent planning permission is required to open bookies in the first place. I may even plan my own protest with a placard and a megaphone. Anyone want to join me..

I do agree, I'm always surprised to see the bookies at my bit open until about 9 or 10 at night where the only people in are the staff.
