Hi

just wondering if anyone can explain what these interest charges mean.

i have my old additions account bank statements from 2003.

along with many other customers i have incurred penalty charges.

the monthly interest amounts don't appear to stay the same,

for example for Aug 06 = overdraft interest

debited £0.60

credit interest 0.10%.

if over the overdraft limit 2.05% another example Sept 08 overdraft interest debited £1.1 credit interest £0.54

how does this then compare with 24.9% if claiming restitution?

Hi Lindy,

So we can answer the right question, please confirm what charges you're looking to have refunded and for what type of a/c.

If it's a current account, you normally can't reclaim default charges.

You may be able to reclaim some of the Additions Fees if the a/c provided "benefits" that you didn't need, or had from elsewhere.

:-)

We could do with some help from you

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi

Its to do with the additions packaged account account.

i originally held a free account. then it was upgraded without me asking for it 6 months later.

was very lax, didn't read what i considered to be junk mail from the bank, (i hadn't asked for anything, so had no reason to check post for anything) and was rare for me back then to check my statements - why would i need to i trusted the bank. knew how much was going in and rough idea of outgoings.

its only now going back over the paperwork - reading through the docs i have that realisation has hit me that i should have been paying closer attention- sucker comes to mind!

i have SAR'd (just b4 Xmas) so will wait 2 see what they produce and take it from there.

Hi Lindy,

When you get the SAR response, you should list and reclaim all Additions Fees.

Let us know what amounts show as paid by you for Add'ns Fees over how many years.

I still have the old Additions account, And one of the benefits, Is a £1000 overdraft facility, And the first £300 of any overdraft, is interest, and fee free

If you have spent a lot of the time overdrawn, They could say you have used at least one of the benefits of the account

but 9/10 that's what you asked for and they sold you the package, when a simple OD was cheaper or even free.
