Know what you mean, but when you have a lot of grandchildren with the weird and wonderful names they give them nowadays. Chicken, or Sweetheart is very useful.

Don't get me started (that's another one BTW) I have so many grandchildren that I call out all the names before I get to the right one.

As for m'duck. This is local dialect from the East Midlands where I originally hail from and it is quite acceptable there.

I'd like to ban:

Offend(ed)

The hiding place of anyone who feels too high-brow to appreciate someone else's humour / language / speech etc.

The usual extraction is "I'm offended by... and I want it banned!"

Oh, wait...

I moved to Suffolk 5 years ago. Another 15 years ( and the growth of the extra finger) and I will be a local!!

My mum does this with her children. Slightly worried that she usually calls my brother by my name! I look nothing like him!

My poor Mum used to do this, at first we used to correct her, then stopped doing it when we realised it stressed her out not remembering who we were

Having spent countless hours on radio stag in the Army where you did say "Say again" when you missed something I got into the habit and can't get out of it. It's much quicker than saying "I'm sorry I missed that, would you please repeat it?"

You are probably correct, DB and I am very likely coming across as a miserable old bat.. I just do not like the word "hun" when applied to me.

I think I understand that when a female is neither married or young, they might want to have their own "title" rather than have people address them by their first name. What annoys me is when a company, even when they are aware I am a Mrs are too lazy to include the "r" and still call me Ms !
