For those that haven't seen this. Some tumble dryers from the Hotpoint- Indesit- Creda range have had a safety alert issued.

If you have one of the affected models, complete the form for a free modification.

Unfortunately, I am one of those affected :|

I don't think I am at risk of fire as I clean my filter out every use and rinse the condenser once a month.

Need to check my mums as I think hers is a Hotpoint. It's on pretty much everyday and is in the garage, so left unattended whilst running.

Quite a turn up for the books.

Hotpoint rang me yesterday. They are going to replace my machine with a brand new one. I should be contacted in the next few days to arrange delivery.

Whether they are doing this for everyone, I have no idea. It may be because I only bought my dryer in January

Mine is a few years old.. about 5 I think -- however they say that I am not one of the affected models.

I did have something replaced when it started to smell of burning last year - I have insurance so I didn't have to pay :)

I don't think I am at risk of fire as I clean my filter out every use and rinse the condenser once a month.

I do the same after every use with my vented model (TVFG85C6P) bought in November 2012. I also only use the low heat setting because anything higher tends to shrink things too much (it does anyway but not as much), so maybe that also helps with the fire risk?

What are the affected model numbers?

The website only giveas a box to fill in - without indicating the format of the input. Pretty much anything I've put in says 'no further action', even random words. It would be nice if it actually told you that your model number has been recognised as well as saying it's OK.

All I did for starters was to input the model number and the serial number and that confirmed I was unlucky. Once I had it confirmed that I was one of the unlucky ones, I was then directed to another part of the site to input my contact details.

It does seem a bit strange as I had registered my dryer with them when I bought it. Can't they access their database?

When you go to the first page linked in SF's first post - you will see the blue bar "check your model number" (it tells you where to find this on your product) Then click on the blue bar and it takes you to another page where you fill in the model and serial numbers - They do provide a format at the bottom of the 2nd page.

An update.

On New Years Eve I received my new dryer. I got a text at 08:00 telling me my delivery would be between 08:15 and 09:45.

08:30 comes a buzz on the intercom. very professional guy unpacked the machine for me and took away the old one and the packaging.

The only problem is that it is a newer type model with more buttons and options and I haven't the faintest idea what they are all for...yet!

Brilliant response from Hotpoint in my view. No hassles whatsoever really.

That is really good service, SF. Did they not provide you with a manual

It is also possible you can find some instructions on You Tube :)

I did mean to say that I received a letter headed "Important Product Safety Notice" from Hotpoint just before Christmas. I am assuming that they would have obtained my details from the registration/ guarantee records when it was first purchased.

As I had already used the link provided by this thread, I knew that I was not one of the affected :)

Of course I got a manual but I am a bloke! You know, the type that assembles an Ikea wardrobe without using instructions and it becomes a chair instead

I did read the manual after using it for the first time just using the timer mode and realised that there is a setting that uses time plus moisture sensing and a post care option.

Hi, my dryer was one of the ones affected by the recall and I responded to them. I was told someone would be in touch within 5 weeks, heard nothing yet, 2 months down the line. Looks like I'm going to have to chase them. :mad2:

Mine is one also effected, I has so far waited 10 weeks since my initial contact with Hotpoint (I had an email telling me they will be in contact with me within 5 weeks) my machine is now blowing the trip when I turn it on!!! I have tried to contact Hotpoint this am via the phone and have followed press number 1 for faulty appliances and you immediately got cut off, I have looked again at the email and there is no reference numbers reqarding my complaint nor are there any telephone numbers to contact.

Can anyone please let me know how you are getting in contact with Hotpoint or suggestions on how to get my machine replaced

Wackyjackie, I have removed your number. We try to encourage people not to contact off forum. While I have no doubts of the good intention, placing a phone number on a public forum is opening you up to possible unsolicited phone calls from some not so good sources.

Hi all

I've just contacted Hotpoint as I've been waiting 8 weeks (the time they claim it should have taken to fix my tumble dryer). They told me I will be waiting until at least June 2016! They did however offer to sell me a new tumble dryer for £99.

They told me it's perfectly safe to use as long as it is used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. On TV this morning it was mentioned (not by Hotpoint) not to use it at all. They mentioned about going back to the retailer to try and get a refund.

My dryer was purchased August 2012. The fault has clearly been there from the time it was purchased. I may try getting a refund, although with the age of the machine that may be easier said than done!

Just in case somebody is looking for the contact number for Hotpoint I telephoned: 0800 151 0905. Took a while to get through as it was engaged a lot.
