My Dad is 75 years old and in a conversation with him the other day he told me that Nat West were closing his account. He said it was one of those where he paid a monthly fee but never got anything out of it, he said he'd never used any services that it offered and when I asked how long he'd had it and why he'd taken it, he said that he'd had it probably 20 years (although his memory is a little hazy) and he said he hadn't asked for it, they just told him he was getting it.....I want to try to claim back his monthly PBA fees, should I start with a SAR request and take it from there?

If so, which SAR letter do I use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this one (£10)... http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?387306-Full-Subject-Access-Request-**Updated-January-2015**%281-Viewing%29-nbsp

You need to state exactly what information you want included in the SAR, although it states that you want everything in any format, it is best to highlight it in black and white so they have no excuses.

They have 40 days in which to supply ALL of the info, so give them the full 40 days before you write them if you feel they haven't supplied all of the info you were after.

I would send this recorded delivery too.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

^^^^ This is the SAR you require. They have 40 calendar days in which to comply. Send to their Head/Registered office address and by tracked mail so that you obtain a signature when they receive it.

Once you receive the data, you would then need to complete a spread sheet so you can work out how much refund is due.

You will find the spread sheet in the link below.

You don't necessarily need to do a DSAR, save the £10 and go straight to issuing a complaint to the bank. If you have the bank account number including sort code (or even just the name of the account e.g. royalties gold) then this will suffice as the account is recent. NatWest will have all the relevant information needed to investigate.

Simply complete the PBA questionnaire and write to the bank including a signed letter stating your dad gives you permission to act on his behalf (if that's what he wants) and you can deal with it all. They may call you to go through the complaint but it sounds like an open shut case and as its recent they cant pull the 3/6 year time bar rule.

Any other questions let me know, the DSAR really wont help and will just cost you £10 and a long wait!

well if you trust the bank to refund all the fees then don't do an sar

but I certainly would never trust them....

you need the statements to see how long its been charged

will give you a good base to workout the probable redress too

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
