UC is being phased in gradually, and I don't believe that CTC or WTC have yet been replaced by UC in any area. So I think the answer is that for now at least you will not have to change over to UC if you move to a new area. This could change in the future, of course. Child Benefit is not one of the benefits that will be rolled into UC, so whatever happens that will not be affected.

 

As far as I know, UC claims are currently only being processed for unemployed people with no children. Open to correction on that point, of course, if anyone else knows better.

In Southport I believe a lady who signed on briefly in March who is a single parent with two teenage children was automatically enrolled on to UC I believe it was a nightmare for her took 6 weeks to process and then they got her earnings wrong.
