Shoplifting TK Maxx, RLP, U18

Hello,

I am seeking some help and advice.

I am under 18 and a week ago I was caught shoplifting in TK Maxx.

I don`t know why I did it, as I had the money to pay for the products but I feel very ashamed and shattered...

After I was caught they escorted me to their office. I pleaded guilty and returned all the products.

They did call an officer in and after I signed the ban I went to the police department, where I`ve been picked up by my guardian as my parents are out of the country for two weeks.

We were taught that a letter from the shop might be sent with a fine and that we should pay it.

Today, we received a letter from RLP which said that the outstanding amount I should pay is $147.50, however they didn`t say how much were the goods I have stolen, but they didn`t cost more than £10.

The letter is

I don`t know what to do...It`s a lot of money and I have no idea how to tell my mother about it. I realise that I have to tell her, but I don`t want to leave her to it and my goal is to find out as much as possible.

I feel you have batted yourself over the head enough so we won't do it for you

 

Did the police take any action? If not then that should be the end of their involvement.

as that will give you some idea of what RLP can and can't do but to set your mind at rest:

 

RLP can do nothing to you!

 

You don't have to pay this 'fine' as it is nothing of the sort. It is a invoice which you can safely ignore

 

RLP can do nothing to you

 

RLP may send 4-6 letters before the pass the alleged amount on to their pet debt collector of the day

 

RLP can do nothing to you

 

The debt collector can do nothing to you

 

Enough of the flippancy on my part. RLP act for TKMaxx and as such can take no action except send the silly begging letters. Only TKMaxx can take action but they don't. They can't be bothered. The debt collector can also do nothing as it would be as if I told you that you owe me money and what would you say to that!

 

RLP can't do court. The debt collector can't do court. Only TKMaxx can and they can't be arsed.

 

I do recommend that you speak to your parents even though it will be highly embarrassing for you but once you have, show them to the forum where the truth is about RLP

you have found the right place for advice so now read some of the other threads to see the no good RLP gets up to in their attempts to hoodwink you into thinking they may have a claim. They dont. The store has done its bit, the police have done their bit so forget about RLP, they are neither. Learn from your good fortune for not getting a police caution and resist the temptation to do it again and get on with your life..

I told my parents about it and they said the are going to pay the fine, because they don`t want anything bad to come out of this.

My mom said that it`s dangerous, that they might come to my school and talk to the head etc if I dont pay the fine.

How would RLP know which school you're at, saskia?

 

I'm not sure paying the fine will help, RLP might think that your family is easily scared and ask for more money.

 

Have your parents read this forum? If they do, they might understand that RLP are nothing to do with the legal system.

Nobody will come to your school. they cannot talk to anyone as they would be in breach of the Data Protection Act.

 

All your parents would be doing is lining the pockets of a company that have absolutely no power over you.

 

TKMaxx do not take people to court. They rely on RLP to intimidate the unwary.

Your parents are well meaning but uninformed. Get them to read the threads about RLP here and they may very well become angry at their behaviour.
