I have been caught speeding at 105mph on a motorway which is a 70mph by a laser gun.

it was in a work vehicle

if I lose my licence I have lost my job.

Work said they will write me a letter to back this up.

I have a clean licence and I am not proud of speeding and this has taught me a valuable lesson.

Will I need a motor lawyer to back my case to get the lightest sentence possible or could I do this alone.

I do around 40-50 thousand miles a year.

Over 100 was an automatic ban. I have read of people getting off with another penalty e.g larger fine, attend course.

Given the consequences, you might want to consult a Solicitor that specialises.

We could do with some help from you.

Agree with the above. You will be extremely lucky not to lose your licence, heavy fine, points and/or an extended retest.

The first question that comes to mind is why on earth were you going that fast? 80 i could understand ( overtaking etc), but definitley not 105.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

A driving licence is a privilege not a right

Perhaps you will learn the hard way

If I was to lose my licence I would also lose my income

Speed limits are maximum speed in ideal conditions

Speed kills

I don't condone speeding but the limits are truly antiquated.

A modern mid size car can safely travel on motorways at 100mph and stop in a reasonably short space if needed to.

I mean, the charts indicate a braking distance of 75 metres at 70mph.

In what car???

I can stop my 18 year old passat in 25 metres!

When I was young we use to test our brakes and it wasn't unusual for a Peugeot 205 to go from 70 mph to full stop in 30 metres.

Nowadays a ford mondeo probably stops in 25 metres thanks to abs.

God knows who writes these charts.

People doing 50 in the middle lane are the real danger.

Also, try driving at 70mph on an empty motorway for a few hours and you will find yourself asleep, playing with in car gizmo or worse watching a movie as i witnessed a few days ago.

When you're driving at 100mph you're doing only that, driving and paying attention.

Modern cars might have improved as to safety but the good old Homo Sapiens still get the red mist my car is faster than yours

Car design might have grown up, we have not to trust ourselves with what is a loaded gun

Your transgression is enough to prove that theory

for a professional driver of many? years experience

and certainly going by you yearly distance of 40-50k annual travelled

2 things spring to mind....

either you do this often and simply got caught this time and it is 'natural' for you to exceed limits

been lucky to date.

or

this is a one off offence, a moment of madness

under pressure? to get something done?

were you on their business or simply privately driving the company vehicle in your own time?

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

If you appeal this case you could win but, the Police/CPS could have charged you with a more serious offence, like dangerous driving which carries a more severe sentence and longer ban. You must always check your speed and stay within the limits on a motorway, see this news story for what you could have been given....

Surely you remember the rules of Look signal and so on?

Imo anyone speeding that much has NO excuse unless they are in an emergency vehicle or similar. But thats aside from the topic.

OP needs to consult a specialist solicitor, and be very prepared that he may well lose his licence and receive a lengthy ban.
