Is there any point sending in a Freedom of Information Act request to a DCA in order to find out how much my debt was bought for?

I would like to know so that I can send in an appropriate Full and Final Settlement Offer. (I'm thinking 2k offer on an 8k debt)

Also does either sending in a Freedom of Information Act request or a Full and Final Settlement offer cause the statute barred clock to be reset?

You would not send an FOI to a DCA. Neither will you be provided with the information you seek - it is confidential.

Almost certainly if you send a Full and final settlement offer, it will reset the Statute barred clock as you would be acknowledging liability in writing.

Just for informational purposes, what you probably were thinking about is a Full Subject Access Request.

But for the reasons mentioned above, will not succeed. Apart form commercial sensitivity they could object under, the other problem is how the debt was purchased.

Debt buyers do not buy single debts, they buy a "Bucket of debts" and that information would not be "personal data"
