We purchased a fitted kitchen from a well know retailer, the cost included fitting.

 

After 2 years the dishwasher is faulty and the kitchen worktops have started to swell between the joints where water is getting in.

 

I have contacted the company and they say the dishwasher warranty has expired, in addition the 12 month fitting warranty has also expired.

 

The company now say i will need to pay for the dishwasher and worktop repair.

 

Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of the dishwasher. One assumes that a dishwasher would last much longer than 24 months and presumably if they were to include in their advertising that it will only last that long, they wouldn't sell very many.

 

I guess also that not many kitchens would be sold if again, they advertised.. our kitchen fittings last for 24 months only !!

 

Who have you complained to within the company - take it straight the CEO and ask if he/she considers it an acceptable length of time ?

I emailed the company and received this reply.

 

Thank you for your email, I am sorry to read of your concerns, just to inform you I have forwarded this on the Installation Team who would cover your area for them to look into.

 

 

 

In relation to your Dishwasher - this may not be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, that comes with the appliance.

 

The Installation Manager once he has your records can ascertain this and advise you accordingly, should it be out of this warranty then it could still be reported but you would be liable for any cost.

 

 

 

In relation to your worktop joint, Your Installation Manager will need to discuss this with you as to how this may be rectified. This is covered under your guarantee but the free fit period elapses after 12 months so there will be a cost implication again I am sure the Installation Manager will cover this with you.

Presumably you don't mind contributing something towards cost - a very small percentage as you have had the use for 2 years.. but you should still expect for both the kitchen and the dishwasher to last a darn sight longer than 2 years !
