Typical Labour

I recon this could be challenged. As it was the Labour Government themselves who promoted the change to diesel, they can't suddenly make a U turn and say 'sorry, we made a cock-up and are going to penalise you'.

Many towns now offer a plug and park for electric cars too, seems a good idea too see here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.540223,0.709229,3a,75y,191.72h,74.24t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1szix4Av6e3RfgljwFXYFmjA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en

Not only can you park up you have a priority parking zone and a charging point too only 100m from the town center

And as electric takes over from the conventional over the years, where are all the motorists going to charge then. You can bet your shirt that the closer to the town center you are the cost of plugging in will increase to silly levels.

They certainly did and lots of people changed over - then diesel started to increase in price and now this ! There has to be a challenge somewhere in this ?

I went pat this bay a few days ago and smiled to myself, but forgot to take a photo of the machine and what it costs to park here for them. I will rectify this and post up the photos in a few hours time. The we can see what this Council want or are charging to use this type of bay..

Oh look.. and which government was it that promoted this ??

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/11368568/Labour-made-wrong-decision-over-diesel-car-tax-admits-shadow-minister.html

Encouraging motorists to trade in their petrol cars for diesel vehicles was one of the last Labour government’s biggest environmental mistakes.

Barry Gardiner, the shadow Environment minister, said the party was trying to cut CO2 emissions when it introduced new vehicle tax rates in 2001.

It meant that motorists switched to diesel vehicles and parts of the country saw a big increase in nitrogen dioxide and other harmful chemicals in the atmosphere.

Mr Gardiner said: “Hands up — there's absolutely no question that the decision we took was the wrong decision. But at that time we didn't have the evidence that subsequently we did have.”

And yet again, it is the poor motorist that suffers for these "mistakes" !

More information that makes this even more worthwhile at present

"Is there a charge to use the EV charging posts?

Currently there is no charge for you to park with an EV in an EV charging parking space. Also currently there is no charge for the electricity you use while charging your EV."

If that's the case, it's because they are making an attempt to get us all over to elec and then start charging when there is no other choice. It's the change to diesel all over again.

Ooh! free motoring, no road tax and no fuel costs. Yea, pull the other one.

I suppose you could argue that drivers will have no trouble selling the diesel cars they have purchased, well outside of Islington.

This just boils down to off-setting council cuts from central government onto motorists. It's either this or close another day-centre..
