Further to what has been said and done recently regarding UC this story could be of interest for those claiming see here http://www.theguardian.com/housing-network/2015/jun/12/universal-credit-u-turn

What could this mean now for this dreaded change?

Further to the above post it may help you all to have a read on some of the published problems regarding direct payment to the claimant and paying their rent. A local Council has already made their concerns public see here http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/universal-credit-pilot-hit-by-payment-error/6523798.article and what they have come across when their tenants have been paid their housing element of UC directly to the claimant.

The costs of having a direct debit set up could cause the claimant some serious financial loses, (bank charges) so maybe they (the Councils) should now be looking towards getting this problem sorted before it gets out of hand, or places an unfair financial burden upon the tenant. This is just one of the many issues that are of concern to many people that are already on UC.

More to follow....
