This is connected to my other thread on lending money but felt it deserved a thread of its own. The person who owes me money and to which he has confirmed with his signature and later agreed by the court has now turned round to say that he did not sign this document but if he didn't, then who did.

By way of implication, am I being accused of forgery, slander, libel or anything else ? Be grateful what to do with this current issue..

When making this statement to the court, because he had stated that it wasn't his signature, how would I go about getting a report of his complaint that he had made to the police or would it be possible I could request that of him ?

I would it would be for him to prove to the court that the document is forged.

A police investigation *IF* it happens would provide evidence that he would *try* and present

Im guessing that maybe he thinks just having a crime reference number will be enough

In the defendants witness statement, he claimed he had reported the issue to the police, and I can only assume he was given a crime reference number. Are the police now likely to investigate this claim, and why would the police give out a crime number when no crime has been proved ?

Remember.

Issue of a crime number is not proof a crime was committed mearly that an accusation has been reported.

On that basis until an investigation is concluded a crime number means nothing
