Hi I have a default dated 26th October 2009 on my credit report.

The default was actually issued 26th August 2009.

Can I get this changed. or do they report a default as 2 month later for some reason.

With thanks

Well it does as it is about to be wiped off my report.

Would help me for that to be August not October as wish to apply for a mortgage.

I have a credit score of 450.

I would not want a default to prevent a mortage when the date is 2 months out.

the issuance of dn does not mean they have to issue the default on that date

its permission to register a default if and when they want too.

Weve had that case with Minicredit and Kapama recently, not to forget the Welcome Finance fiasco.

I wouldnt worry about it.

Its a couple of months, hold of on the Mortgage for a while

We could do with some help from you.

I would if house prices were not shooting up in my area. A property bought last Nov for £135 is now £179. ( research on sold prices) So another 4 months rather than 2 could cost a lot more.

So they could send me a default and not issue it to my credit file untill months later. Makes a mockery of the 6 year rule

The Information Commissioner advises they should do it in a timely manner (whatever that is). It is my understanding if they delay longer than 6 months from the issuing of the default notice to the placing of the default marker, the ICO will investigate.

If you read the Default Notice - you will see that this is one of the options they have open to them if the default isn't remedied in the time allotted.

They can

Sell the debt on

Use a Debt Collector

Issue a claim form

Report to the credit reference agencies.

Sadly, it doesn't provide a time limit for them doing any of those and in some cases, they actually leave it right up until a few weeks prior to issuing a claim form ?
