Today's question is. Why are standard white mushrooms so expensive, when they are about 99% water ? The cheapest price in a supermarket is £3 per killo. They are grown in massive warehouses in Holland, Ireland and the UK. There is not a limited supply of them, but their shelf life is fairly short. Perhaps they are priced at a level that accounts for the number that have to be thrown away.

We could do with some help from you.

random question, why am I getting emails from CAG despite saying no mail!

I can see you are subscribed to the CAG Newsletter - if you want me to unsub you, I can do that. Although, you could do that yourself if they have been bothering you. Other than that, you should not be receiving notification emails for subbed threads, as I can see you have declined to have these sent.

This question is one that should have been asked in the following forum..

Can someone please explain the point of the appendix? As in the body part, which at point, has to get removed.

I think it had something to do with when humans mainly had a diet of raw meat, but that it is now not really needed. I am not sure it serves any function.

Edit- partially correct. Scientists found out a few years ago that the appendix stored good bacteria to help maintain good health.

We could do with some help from you.

Didn't human beings used to have tails..

This goes down to the evolution theory that man descended from apes.

The Coccyx is the tail bone in humans and is thought to be a remnant from when we began walking upright as we didn't need it.

Surely they could charge more for a mouldy mushroom... Oh wait...

This thread is mushrooming !

Talking of food issues, why is there a story in the Daily Mail everday saying that if you eat this or drink that you will get some illness or will die ? Today drinking 2 or more fizzy drinks can cause liver damage.

I realise that the DM adds articles to generate number of views and therefore advertising revenues. cynical me !

We could do with some help from you.
