Does anyone have knowledge of cracks /splits on Michelin tyres???

Just failed mot today because 4, yes four tyres were cracked beyond what the mot will allow .

These tyres only covered 25,000mls and are original tyres.

Mot tester and tyre fitter say this is a common fault on Miches.

Do I have a claim against Michelin???

No, you don't.

25000 miles is plenty for any tyres, they need to be replaced anyway.

One thing I have noticed is that Michelin tyres grip very well early in their life and wear very evenly.

But after 15000 miles they "crystalise" and stop wearing out.

So you get to 25000 miles with still more than the legal limit on the thread, but a tyre that is prone to cracking and loses grip very easily, especially on wet roads.

Try Pirelli P1 or at more reasonable price good year efficient grip.

Also I found falken tyres very good, but with shorter life than others.

This is the US site, but it will give you a guide I'm sure. These are the tyre warranties for various Michelin tyres.

Please note that my posts are my opinion only and should not be taken as any kind of legal advice.
In fact, they're probably just waffling and can be quite safely and completely ignored as you wish.
