IIB is awarded when someone has an employment related disease or injury and they are unable to work. So, yes I guess you are - I have linked you to an IIB guide, for more information.

As citizenB says; industrial injuries disablement benefit may be awarded to a worker in employment who suffers a disabling accident or disease during the course of their work. Percentage of disablement is determined by the faculty lost. For example; loss of sight or both hands counts as 100% disablement, loss of one foot counts as 30%. Loss of, for example, lung function cos of an industrial disease is measured by comparison of the claimant's residual function with that of a healthy person of the same age, gender and height.

Yes, you're now classed as disabled;

https://www.gov.uk/definition-of-disability-under-equality-act-2010

But there's no longer a general card for people who're 'registered disabled'. Should you feel capable of some work, ask to see the disability employment adviser at your local Jobcentre.

'For life' means your condition isn't expected to improve, but it may be reviewed for changes from time to time.

A sucessful claim for contribution flavoured employment n support won't affect your award of IIDB, cept that they're both taxable. For an income related claim to ESA, your IIDB will be counted as income. Have you looked into whether or not you're eligible for a personal independence payment?

Welfare's moved on since the leaflet citizenB linked to, which includes some info that's now out of date, but it's still at least as useful as it's replacement at;

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/industrial-injuries-disablement-benefit-leaflet

Which appears to suggest that Work n Pensions don't want claimants to have too much info about benefits. :frown:

Best wishes, Margaret.
