Hello, can anyone help us please?

A family member of my OH died recently and we're trying to sort out his mobile phone with Vodafone. I can't find a non-premium rate line for customer services and their website is very quiet about a bereavement team.

One possible problem is that this relative has a Vodafone account that also includes his wife's phone on the same monthly payment. We're trying to cancel his account and leave her account running, with the same mobile number.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Deal with Lee! Do not go through the customer services as it is likely both phones will get turned off

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor

You should be able to cancel via email (I saw this on the VF forum) with a photocopy of the death certificate.

Have you tried saynoto0870 to see if they have a normal number to call.

You could also do a call from the mobile itself on 191 (free)

The issue doesn't appear to be cancelling, its cancelling half the contract so as to keep the same number. I would suggest waiting for lee to pop by and see what he suggests.

You're right guys, she doesn't want to have her part of the contract cancelled. It seems to be fixed until 2016, but one would hope that death is a good enough reason to cancel.

I did send a PM to Lee but I haven't heard from him. I hope he'll see this.

The following is how BT deal with it Honeybee....ring them....

Please have the following details to hand when you call:

The account number and the name of the account holder

The action you want BT to take, for example:

- changing the name of the account holder

- closing the account

- removing one name from a joint account

Your name and address

Your relationship to the deceased

We don't need to see the death certificate.

If they haven't resolved this matter with 8 weeks she is then able to escalate this to the CISAS free of charge who should be able to get them to resolve the matter. http://www.cisas.org .uk/

We could do with some help from you.

Thank you Lee, I got your PM.

As it happens, the wife of the contract holder went to the local vodafone shop today and they said they would sort this, keep her phone line going and cancel his. If there are any problems, I'll post again.
