Hi there, I hope it's OK to post this issue here on a new thread.

So my situation is this: Today, to my surprise, I received a letter to my house from Ingeus *shudders*. I have officially been off Ingeus for a year now, after completing their 2 year "programme" by April 2014. In this letter they are telling me that "we have a duty to contact you periodically" and that they've been "unable to reach you on the contact details we currently hold" so "therefore we are writing to you today to notify you that we intend to visit you at home to obtain an update".

Are you serious?! I haven't heard anything from these people for over a year and now they're going to visit my house? Can anybody tell me what rights I have because I feel that this is harassment.

I actually signed off welfare early when I was with them because of their harassment (I'm back on now) but this is a step further in coming to visit my house. They've left a number to call to "let us know whether you are looking for work and if you would like support, or if you are already working".

I would call this number but I feel that I shouldn't be obliged to tell them anything and that they have no right to know my business, since I'm not even on their programme. Do they expect to be on my case for the rest of my life? And can anyone here offer advice as to the best course of action to take? If they show up at my door I plan on telling them to p*ss off and will happily get the police involved if they persist.

Many thanks.

Could put it in writing that you only wish to deal with them in writing, and not via phone. You also withdraw any implied permission for them to visit your property.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

In the nicest possible way, tell them to do one and if they wish to contact you do so by letter. email or phone (which you can ignore as you will not be mandated by them)

If INGEUS ever threatened to come to my home I would politely ask them to leave the entrance to my property and threaten to report them for harrassment

Remember, these organisations are the slaves of DWP/JCP - a formal complaint to your JCP adviser should do the trick

Thanks for the help guys. I went into my job centre and managed to speak with my work coach, who rang them up herself and managed to get them to refrain from coming to my house. They just want money from the government for pretending to get people into work. My work coach agreed it was creepy that they're now backtracking people who aren't even with Ingeus anymore. Must be desperate. What a horrible company.

So hopefully now they shouldn't bother me again.... we'll see. Thanks again for your help and suggestions :hippie:

If they do pester you again - FORMAL complaint and copied to your JCP adviser and MP

They are despicable people and a despicable organisation - the sooner they are torn apart the better

Got it, will do. Couldn't agree more with your sentiments about them!

There is no way I would allow them in - they have NO right of entry.

Just because they work for some company attached to the DWP gives them no legal right to our home, after all anyone can work for them, and their staff seems to change regularly - so who do we know who we are allowing in.

I would chase this contact your MP and anyone else you can think off.

Blimey it's bad enough having to go to their office never mind allow them into our homes (seems like a spying mission to me).

Theyre a private company who you you dont have a relationship with. You dont have to let them in at all. Send them the letter and tell the job advisor to call them off. If they dont, then get full complaints in about both parties.
