oz debt now living in china

hi all

 

I was international student and left australia with 14000AUD credit card debt, its my fault and i am not able to pay if off at the moment. I am in China now and scared that the credit provider will get a court order in Australia and make enforcement in china or they will sell my debt to a chinese or international debt collection agency.

I am wondering if they can find out that I am in china now and that they will do to me. I think only immigration knows my china address

 

My life in Australia was scawed by gambling and it's all my fault.

 

any advice will be appreciated.

You would need to obtain advice in Australia or China.

 

I don't think Australia and China has any agreement on debts for private individuals, so that a court judgement in Australia could be enforced in China. But you would have to check on this.

 

I would think that action can only be taken against you, if you returned to Australia. You may however, be contacted by a debt collection agency in China, if they can find you. They would have no powers to make you pay the debt, unless they had the authority of a court in China.

Up to you. You don't have to delete it.

 

I have been to Australia a number of times and there is a huge gambling problem there, particularly with Asians at the state casinos. I noticed that at one of them, which I think was in Brisbane, that it was mainly Asians who were gambling.

 

Best advice is to forget about this and move on. If you plan to go back to Australia in the next 10 years or so, you might have problems in gaining services there. It won't be a problem at the border, but when you come to try to obtain a bank account or rent a house.

It a shame that I was addicted to gambling. I can say gamble is the thing in the world.

 

I will just leave this post and maybe someone will give me advice.
