After filing my first claim to Natwest, I have just received my statements from Capital One.

I have been looking through my statements and have a number of late payment fees of £18 and £20.

Can I claim for all of these back ?.

Also I get two finance charges levied each month, shown as Special purchases interest and purchase interest charges.

Purchase interest is shown as 0.873% and special rate as 0.638%.

Which level of interest can I claim ?.

Sorry if I am a little vague on my Cap one statements, but quite different from my Natwest fees and statements.

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,

been having the same trouble myself, but this is how i understand it to be.

Late Payment Charges - yes

Overlimit Charges - yes

the interest charges were where i go stuck too. I'm going to delete that part from my prelim letter (i calculate you have taken xxx in charges and xxx in interest) and just put in the charges. At court stage, i believe, you can claim contractual interest instead of just s69 8% but i think you have to have a masters in 3D maths to calculate it. LOL. If it is the same principal as the banks, then you only need send a schedule of charges at this stage.

hope that helps.

Regards

the train of thought has left the station, hope i was on the right platform!!

If you have a balance of £400, and have £400 in charges, then the monthly interest you pay is interest paid on the unlawful charges, you can claim it back. It gets difficult when the whole balance is more than the charges etc, but the spreadsheet can work this out for you.
